Bought a Wolf Pup at the Black Market, Found Out His Father Is Alpha King Chapter 04

Chapter 4 Alpha King Soren’s Territory

Texts couldn’t always be trusted.

Still clinging to that thought, I waited until Dylan went to school the next day, then decided to go see the Darkmoon pack for myself.

Darkmoon was the biggest werewolf pack in North America.

Their territory stretched from the harbor all the way to the north district, wrapped in iron fencing, surveillance, and armed patrols.

Ordinary humans couldn’t even get close.

I circled the outer edge twice pretending I was a lost tourist before a Beta guard stopped me.

“This area isn’t open to the public,” he said flatly.

“I… I just wanted to ask something.”

“What?”

“I heard Alpha King Soren lost his son… is that true?”

The Beta’s expression changed at once.

He grabbed my arm so hard my bones creaked.

“Who told you that?”

“N-no one… I just heard people talking…”

“Get out.”

He let me go.

“If I see you here again, I’ll throw you in the dungeon.”

I turned and ran.

Still, it wasn’t a total loss.

I circled around to the residential area behind the pack territory and found a convenience store run by a werewolf woman.

She looked to be in her forties, and when she saw I was human, she didn’t want much to do with me.

But after I bought three packs of cigarettes and a case of beer, she started spilling everything.

“Soren’s former mate was human,” she said in a hushed voice.

“She ran off not long after the child was born.

I heard she came from some noble family and only bonded with Alpha King Soren because the Moon Goddess willed it.

Back then, Soren was out fighting all the time.

She couldn’t handle it, so she left.

Dumped the kid too.

When Soren came back, he went crazy looking for them.

Searched for two years and found nothing.

Then he stopped.”

“He stopped?”

“He did.

Maybe he gave up.

Or maybe he hated humans so much by then that he didn’t even want the child anymore.”

I tightened my grip around the beer can.

How badly would a woman have to want out for her to abandon her own child just to escape?

And how deep would a father’s hatred have to be before he stopped looking for his own son?

I walked home with my head full of thoughts.

Just before I got there, the kindergarten called.

“Are you Dylan’s mother? Dylan got into a fight at school. Please come right away.”
