Betrayal and Regret: The Donna Lost Her Child Chapter 06

Betrayal and Regret: The Donna Lost Her Child Chapter 06

By the time he reached the scene, he was drenched in sweat.

He shoved through the crowd, layer by layer.

People cursed at him.

Someone even threw a few punches.

Ryan had once been the Don, high above everyone. People used to bow their heads when they saw him.

In the past, he would have had his men toss that person into the ocean to feed the fish.

But right now, he didn’t care. He only wanted to get to the front. He only wanted to confirm that the mother and child lying on the ground were not his wife and son.

No.

No!

Grace-it can’t be you. It absolutely cannot be you.

After countless punches and curses, he finally made it to the front.

But then-he couldn’t move forward.

He was afraid.

Afraid that the person lying there was really Grace. And their child.

He choked, every nerve in his body pulled taut.

He squeezed his eyes shut and told himself over and over:

Grace is tough. No one can hurt her-least of all seagulls.

Besides, the baby is with the nanny. He’s safe. There’s no way he’s here. He’s just scaring himself.

Only then did he slowly open his eyes and step forward.

With trembling hands, he turned the blood-soaked body over.

The moment he saw her face-

Ryan’s entire world collapsed.

It was his wife. Grace.

And beneath her-the infant was their child. Ten days old.

Ryan’s head spun. He nearly blacked out.

He grabbed a rock to steady himself.

Frantically, he pulled out his phone and called his private doctor.

“Get to this goddamn island now!!! Grace! Something’s happened to Grace!”

By the end, he was screaming, sobbing.

The people around him finally understood.

The three of them-a family.

Their eyes held pity, heartbreak, and plenty of blame. People were saying everything at once.

One mother broke down in tears.

“This child is so tiny-he’s clearly a preemie. Why didn’t you just stay home? Why drag him out here on vacation? Don’t you care about your baby’s life? And your wife-she gave her life to protect him. Where the

hell were you?”

Ryan was already wrecked with grief. That mother’s words pushed him into total despair.

He grabbed a rock and slammed it into the ground.

He screamed.

“Enough! Get out! All of you, get the hell out of here!”

The crowd, seeing how unhinged he was, left muttering.

He couldn’t bring himself to look at Grace’s face. If he hadn’t left her here that day, would any of this have happened?

If he’d let Grace see their child, would any of this have happened?

It was too late. His wife was gone forever.
