He’d been playing me for weeks. One little prank 

was nothing. If he’s mad, he deserved it. 

Bullet comments cackled: [She does not take 

any crap. He yells at her, she turns around and 

bounces.] 

[She’s playing with fire like this. Isn’t she scared 

he’ll dump her later?] 

Caspian felt a knot in his chest. He grabbed my 

arm, holding it tight. 

If it weren’t for that stupid bet! 

He would NOT be putting up with this insufferable 

woman! 

Thinking about how much he’d done for Elowen, 

only to get played, the anger surged up from his 

gut. 

The rage burned even hotter than when Seraphina 

rejected him. 

So frustrating! 

Caspian finally snapped, raising his voice, “I was 

actually worried about you!” 

No sane person would follow that stupid 

hundred–item rule list! 

He followed every single one, and she still treated 

him like dirt? 

What was he to her? 

A toy? 

But when he saw the cold, indifferent look in 

Elowen’s eyes, panic flickered in his chest. 

I frowned. Caspian was too loud, too emotional. We were right outside the dorm, people were 

staring. 

I slapped his hand away. 

Caspian caught the look of disgust on my face. 

and couldn’t believe it. “You’re seriously 

embarrassed to be seen with me?!” 

Okay, so the male lead isn’t an idiot. To figure me out, he’d spent the past week studying my 

micro–expressions. 

The anger in his eyes faded, replaced by hurt. 

He’s had everything too easy. He’s never had to 

work this hard for anyone. 

Even when he liked Seraphina and got rejected, he 

just walked away. 

I smirked. 

“Caspian, you know I know a lot about you, right?” 

“I mean, I know everything you like.” 

Caspian looked confused, not sure why I was 

bringing that up. He nodded stiffly and grunted, 

“Yeah.” 

“So, knowing you as well as I do, don’t you think I 

could tell you were only chasing me because your 

like Seraphina?” 

“Our families don’t exactly match. If she came to 

you tomorrow and proposed a marriage alliance, 

would you say no?” 

I don’t like waiting around for things to happen. 

After throwing that out there, I pushed his 

grabbing hands away. 

Caspian looked ashamed. 

I don’t know what story he told himself in his head, but his eyes softened when he looked at me. 

“So… what do you want for dinner?” 

He touched his nose. 

I studied his expression and figured I’d at least get that two million breakup fee. 

If he didn’t feel something and was just 

completing a bet, he wouldn’t have blown up like 

that. Not with his pride. 

Seraphina got back to the dorm late. 

She looked rough. 

I caught a bullet comment: [The male lead didn’t 

go racing, so no scene where he finds out the 

female lead has a stomach ache and rubs it for 

her.] 

I glanced at Seraphina. 

She was sitting ramrod straight, pale–faced. 

She said tensely, “Seems I underestimated you.” 

“What did you do to make Caspian that obedient?” 

I poured a cup of hot water and put it on her desk. 

“I don’t owe you an explanation.” 

Seraphina’s expression started to thaw, then froze 

again. 

She didn’t say another word to me all night. 

Or drink the water. 

The next day, Seraphina said, “Well, Caspian and I 

are going the same way anyway. I’ll have him give 

us a ride. You don’t mind, do you?” 

Bullet comments buzzed: [Damn, the female 

lead is so rattled she actually added the male lead 

back and used the bet to blackmail him into 

accepting.] 

[Is the side chick gonna delete him again. because of this?] 

Caspian looked at Seraphina, his face dark. 

He texted her: [Are you seriously still mad I told 

you to keep quiet about the bet yesterday?] 

[I told you, Elowen doesn’t let me add girls!] 

When I took his hand, he instinctively turned off 

his phone screen, looking nervous. 

Seraphina’s face was cold. 

In the car, she held her stomach a few times, but 

Caspian didn’t even notice. 

At a red light, Caspian checked his phone. 

He was almost… disappointed to see Elowen 

hadn’t deleted him. 

What gives? 

She’s not deleting him now? 

After he got out of the car, he saw Seraphina’s reply: [Elowen will find out eventually. You did it, 

but you’re afraid to own up?] 

[Your family probably wouldn’t say no to a marriage alliance with mine. As for Elowen, if you want to date her for now, I don’t really care.] 

She decided not to follow Lysander’s plan of 

testing Caspian during a game. 

So she texted him in advance. 

Then saw his cold response: [Stop texting while 

she’s around.) 

Seraphina stared at her phone, her mood all over 

the place, and finally turned it off in irritation.
