The 100 Rules Dating the Male Lead Chapter 05
He racked his brain, but couldn’t figure it out.
Last time he pissed her off? She had a nightmare
at 3 AM and he was dead asleep, couldn’t answer
the phone.
He sent another text.
【Whatcha doing?)
【What do you want for dinner tonight? What
time? Eat out or I bring it to your dorm? Picked out
some places, check ‘em out.]
【Heads up: a buddy’s birthday, we’re going to the
racing club.]
[It’s a guy friend who invited me, your roommate’s cousin, Lysander Blackwood.]
He deleted the last sentence super fast, leaving
just the first part.
Because he suddenly remembered Elowen didn’t
want him mentioning girls.
Close call.
Almost got deleted again.
Caspian kept glancing at his phone. Elowen hadn’t texted him in three hours straight. Felt weird.
Lysander spoke up, “Hey Caspian, you gonna race
later?”
Caspian gritted his teeth, “Can’t. Gotta be with my girl tonight.”
Seraphina couldn’t help but snark, “She’s that
clingy? You can handle that? Didn’t peg you as the
type.”
Someone else joked, “Super sweet girls are
boring.”
“Have your fun before marriage, sure. But after, you want someone sensible like Seraphina.”
Seraphina’s boyfriend chimed in, “I got my racing license a while back. Wouldn’t mind a go with
Caspian.”
“Unless you’re scared of crashing and are just
using her as an excuse.”
The air got tense.
Caspian was an aggressive racer. And he couldn’t
resist a challenge.
Last time someone cut him off, he ran them right
into the hospital.
Seraphina shot Lysander a look. “Don’t take it too
far.”
Lysander teased, “What’s wrong, Seraphina?
Worried about Caspian? Or your new boy toy?”
Seraphina went quiet.
Which was as good as admitting it.
Everyone looked at Caspian. In terms of family
and looks, he and Seraphina were the perfect
match. He’d chased her hard for months.
Everyone there knew it, so nobody took his new
girl seriously.
Bullet comments sighed: [Caspian will race
someone for the female lead tonight. Everyone
can see who he really likes.]
[Poor side chick. Tomorrow at the friend
gathering, she’ll have to watch him kiss the female
lead for a minute and confess his true feelings.]
[I’d lose my mind too.)
I glanced at the comments, my expression ice.
cold.
I sent Caspian a few texts: [I’m sorry.]
【I didn’t mean to ignore you earlier. I have a fever
and my head hurts.]
[If you want to break up… just tell me first, okay?
Don’t lie to me.]
After sending those pathetic, pity–baiting
messages,
I turned my phone off.
No fever. Just messing with him.
Caspian’s face changed after reading them.
Something was seriously wrong. Elowen was
apologizing to him?
Caspian gave everyone a warning look. “Elowen’s
got a fever. I’m heading back.”
“If anyone spills about the bet, you’ll regret it.”
Seraphina’s face went pale.
That last warning was aimed right at her.
Lysander sensed trouble and tried to smooth
things over.
“Hey, it’s getting late anyway. We’ve got the thing
tomorrow. Let’s call it a night.”
Walking Caspian out, Lysander suddenly said,
“Seraphina’s family is talking about a marriage.
alliance with the Shen family. She’s got a lot of
guys after her. Don’t be an idiot.”
He lowered his voice and continued,
“Or are you seriously falling for some girl with less
status and looks than Seraphina? It’s just a bet,
man. Dating someone like that? The whole circle
would laugh at you.”
Caspian’s steps faltered for a second.
He didn’t look back.
“Just keep your mouths shut.”
The car door slammed shut.
Even if Elowen hadn’t texted, he wouldn’t have
gone racing.
He realized, after getting used to being pissed off by Elowen every single day, hearing those guys try
to provoke him just now? He felt… calm.
Lysander went back to the room and gave Seraphina a look.
“Tomorrow, we’ll play Truth or Dare. Just admit
you were using those boyfriends to make him
jealous. Keep playing games and he’s actually
gonna get away.”
Caspian paced outside Elowen’s dorm.
How bad is this fever? Why is she taking so long?
He stared at his phone, stressed, not realizing how
anxious he looked.
I changed into a pretty new dress and bounced
out of the dorm.
Ignoring his sour expression, I hooked my arm
through his and said sweetly, “You’re such a good
boy. You came right away.”
Caspian’s face went stiff, then annoyance
flickered in his eyes as he realized he’d been
played.
“You’re not sick?”
I didn’t answer. Seeing him getting mad, I let go of
his arm and my expression turned cold.
