His Assistant Called Me Ugly, So I Toppled His Dark Empire Chapter 07

Back in New York.

Chiara ran downstairs and faced the pale, gaunt man.

“What exactly do you want?”

“Tell me where Sophia is,” Leonardo begged.

“You treated her like trash when she loved you. Now that she’s gone, you realize you can’t live without her?” Chiara scoffed. “How disgusting can you be?”

A dull pain stabbed Leonardo’s chest. “That’s not true.”

He had never imagined that Sophia would really choose to leave him.

After days of searching everywhere with no results, he finally woke up to the truth.

Chiara rolled her eyes and picked up a broom to drive him away.

“Get out of here and don’t dirty my place.”

Leonardo blocked the broom. His eyes were full of supplication. “I’m begging you. I will go to her, apologize and kneel to ask for her forgiveness. I will make up for everything I owe her.”

“Please.”

“Spare me. A man who kneels to apologize is no different from a stray dog.” Chiara snapped. “Leave right now, or I’ll have you shot and severely wounded.”

Leonardo was about to speak when his phone rang. He answered it, and his face turned deathly pale.

When he returned to the family headquarters, the whole place was in chaos.

All the shareholders had withdrawn their capital and fled. Every crew member went on strike.

His deputy rushed over in a panic. “Don, that mysterious financial group not only withdrew all funds, but also started to suppress our business. They are just toying with us.”

“Did you get in touch with them?” Leonardo asked in a grim voice.

“We did. They said you have offended someone you should never cross, and you must pay the price.”

“They told us their last name is Conti, the same as Donna.”

Leonardo’s pupils shrank sharply. Conti, the same last name as Sophia.

He had always thought Sophia was an orphan.

Yet she had never said a word about it. It was all just his own assumption.

Years ago, his family was trapped in a crisis: investigated by the FBI, attacked by rival clans, and facing a broken capital chain.

Sophia once hugged him and said she would help him. He thought it was just a joke and paid no mind.

The next day, anonymous funds were transferred from Swiss bank accounts. The donor said they were

optimistic about their cooperation.

He had never met the mysterious donor all these years.

“Hurry up and think of a solution,” the deputy urged.

Leonardo pulled himself together and worked nonstop for seven days and seven nights.

The family business was barely saved, but it was nothing more than an empty shell. It could never return to

its former glory even after hundreds of years.

Leonardo leaned back in his chair, utterly exhausted. But he dared not rest.

He had to find Sophia, ask her the truth and apologize to her.

“We’ve found her. She’s staying at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.”

Leonardo booked a flight immediately and headed for Las Vegas.

He arrived long after midnight. He went straight to the hotel front desk and demanded the key to my suite.

The clerk refused at first. Leonardo pulled out the handgun tucked at his waist and held up his marriage

certificate.

“Ma’am, this is my wife’s room. Please hand over the key.”

He knew he was being arrogant, but he could not wait to see her.

The clerk surrendered out of fear. Leonardo took the key and walked upstairs.

He stood in front of the suite door. The lock clicked open.

The room was pitch black, and he walked inside without turning on the lights.

Soon, soft whimpers and pleas drifted through the darkness.

“Stop… don’t kiss me anymore…”
