The Daughter They Overlooked Was a Golden Wolf Chapter 07
The area in front of Royal Fang’s main entrance is packed with people.
The moment I push through the crowd, I see a glaring black–and–white banner hanging across the school gate:
[STEM STUDENT FAKED HER WAY INTO ROYAL FANG’S WARRIOR PROGRAM! ACADEMIC FRAUD,
GET OUT!]
My mom drops onto the ground beneath the banner, slapping her thighs and wailing
“Everyone, come look! This is one of Royal Fang’s incoming freshmen, Chloe Rosenthal!”
“She’s a STEM student. She barely even participates in training, so how could she possibly get into Royal Fang’s Warrior Program? That’s a program plenty of Gammas can’t even get into. Why does she deserve a spot? She must have used some shady trick to cheat her way in!”
New students, parents, and people holding up their phones to record crowd around us. Camera
flashes keep going off.
Landon holds up a megaphone and shouts along.
“She’s just jealous of her own sister! She couldn’t stand Megan getting into a good state school, so she was willing to do anything to get into Royal Fang!”
“Someone who cheats her way into this school has no business being here! Royal Fang needs to
revoke her admission!”
Megan hides behind my mom, her eyes red from crying.
The moment she sees me, she rushes over and grabs my sleeve, tears streaming down her face.
“Chloe! Please, just stop this!”
“I know you’re upset that I got into a good state school while you didn’t get into any of the colleges you applied to. But you can’t lie your way into Royal Fang!”
She sobs, “Just admit what you did and withdraw your application. Please. Don’t make our family a laughingstock.”
The crowd immediately erupts in whispers.
“Wait, she’s a STEM student and somehow got into Royal Fang’s Warrior Program? That is pretty
weird.”
“Her own mother and brother came all the way here to report her. Maybe there really is something
shady going on.
“If she cheated her way in, she shouldn’t be at Royal Fang in the first place.”
Logan’s face turns livid. He steps forward and roughly pulls Megan’s hand off me.
“Watch your mouth.”
“Keep spreading lies, and you’ll answer for every word you just said.”
Megan uses the momentum to throw herself to the ground, covering her face as she screams.
“He hit me! She brought some guy here to attack her own sister!”
My mom gets up like a woman possessed and lunges toward my face, her fingers clawed.
“You shameless little bitch! How dare you let someone put his hands on your sister!”
I don’t move.
Instead, I pull a clear document folder from my backpack, raise my hand, and smack it hard against the megaphone in Landon’s hand.
A piercing screech blasts through the entire entrance. Everyone immediately covers their ears.
The entire scene falls silent.
I pull the documents from the folder and hold them above my head, my voice completely steady.
“First, a copy of my gold medal certificate from the Werewolf Realm Warrior Competition.”
“I’m a Golden Wolf Warrior.”
“Second, my official admission confirmation from Royal Fang, along with the special–admission recommendation from my professor.”
I shove the documents directly in front of Landon.
“Every single document was reviewed and verified by Royal Fang Admissions.”
“You don’t get to decide whether my admission is legitimate. Royal Fang does.”
Landon is forced to take a step back, but he still stubbornly holds his ground.
“Don’t try to fool everyone with a few pieces of paper!!
“You’re a STEM student. And now you suddenly get into Royal Fang’s Warrior Program? That alone proves something’s wrong!”
“I never applied to the Warrior Program.”
I stare straight into his eyes and say each word clearly.
My first choice was Physics.”
Everyone around us freezes. Even Megan forgets to cry, staring at me in stunned silence,
I turn around and face all the cameras pointed at me. My voice rings clearly across the entire
entrance.
“My STEM applications were changed ten minutes before I submitted them.”
“And you know who changed them?”
“My own brother and my ex–mate, Xavier.”
“They hacked into my application and changed my choices without my permission!”
The crowd erupts.
Every camera immediately swings toward Landon and my mom.
The color drains from Landon’s face.
“What? No! That’s a lie!”
“You’re making this up!”
He points at me, his finger trembling violently.
“Do you have proof? Huh? If you don’t, I’ll sue you for defamation!”
My mom panics and quickly backs him up.
“Exactly! Stop accusing your brother of things he didn’t do! You must have made the mistake
yourself!”
I let out a cold laugh, pull my phone from my pocket, and light up the screen.
“You want to know whether I’m lying?”
“Then tell it to the police.”
I look at Landon, my voice ice–cold, “I already called them.”
“They should be here any minute now.”
AL—-?
