“What about Arden?”
Maddox frowned. Figured I’d done something else.
“Did she hit someone? Trash sornething? If she’s being too dramatic, just tell her the photo thing was fake-this was just to teach her a lesson.”
“If she goes after Quinn again, I won’t go easy on her.”
“Even if she’s my Luna, she can’t just do whatever she wants.”
His beta’s lips were trembling. Opening and closing. Nothing came out. Finally, he bit his lip and spoke.
“Alpha… Luna… she’s DEAD!”
“What did you say?!”
Maddox whipped around. His wolf flashed in his eyes.
“What kind of bullshit is that? How could Arden be dead? Did she bribe you to say this?”
“No, Alpha. Your Luna really is-”
The beta tried to say more. Then Quinn suddenly clutched her head and screamed.
“Is your mate still mad at me? I didn’t do it, I really didn’t-those photos aren’t mine! Ahhh-”
She looked trapped in a nightmare. Face pale as a ghost. Blood seeping from her wrists.
“It wasn’t me, I’m not a homewrecker… the photos aren’t mine…”
Maddox immediately started rubbing her back. Trying to calm her.
“It’s okay. No one’s going to hurt you anymore. Those photos were fake-I had them all taken down.”
“I’m here. Don’t be scared. Everything’s fine.”
Hearing his voice, Quinn threw herself into Maddox’s arms. Sobbing.
His body went tense. But he didn’t push her away.

After Quinn fell asleep, Maddox finally left the hospital room.
He rubbed his temples. Exhausted.
“Have someone watch Arden from now on. Don’t let her hurt Quinn again.”
The beta wanted to speak. Hesitated. Saw Maddox’s eyes on him and forced himself to continue.
“Alpha… Luna… she really is dead.”
“I got a call. Someone saw her jump into the lake. Suicide.”
Maddox’s pupils contracted. His face froze like ice.
Without thinking, he rushed out of the pack hospital. Floored the gas the whole way.
He still held onto hope. Thought this was just me getting revenge on him.
When he got home, he’d see me sitting on the couch. Waiting. Mocking smile.
But when his car stopped at the house, he got out and immediately smelled it.
Dried blood. Everywhere.
Maddox’s face went white. He followed the blood trail step by step. Down to the basement.
Massive amounts of blood had soaked the sheets. The copper smell was overwhelming.
The ropes that bound me were still there. Covered in dark red blood. Even pieces of flesh.
“How could this happen… all this blood…”
“Impossible. This definitely isn’t Arden’s. It has to be fake!”
Maddox muttered. But his voice shook bad.
He rushed out and grabbed his beta’s shoulders. Hard.
“Find out what the hell happened!”
“Arden can’t be dead-get everyone to find her. Now!”
The beta turned to send more wolves to investigate. Then he pulled out his phone. His eyes went wide with horror.
“Alpha… Luna’s video… someone posted it online!”
