Listening to My Unborn Baby, I Became the Elite Darling Chapter 09

When I woke up again, the first thing I saw was Julian’s guilt-ridden face.

The moment he realized my eyes were open, he completely forgot his usual restraint and immediately grabbed my hand.

“How are you feeling? Does anything hurt? I’ll call the doctor right now!”

Still dazed, I shook my head and instinctively looked down at my stomach first.

Thank God.

My baby was still okay.

As if sensing I was awake, the baby immediately kicked excitedly inside me, her little voice echoing in my mind.

[Mommy, I’m sorry. I really kicked way too hard this time. I can’t believe you were unconscious for two whole days.]

[Even though you didn’t see how Dad acted these past two days, I saw everything. He was really worried about you.]

[And sooo much happened while you were asleep…]

While the baby rambled on inside my head, Julian spoke softly beside me.

“The DNA test results came out this morning. My whole family was there when they opened the

report.”

My heart instantly tightened.

I became so nervous I almost couldn’t speak.

Thankfully, Eleanor pushed open the hospital room door right then.

“I told everyone from the start there was no reason to doubt Clara,” she snapped. “That poor girl and the baby suffered for nothing.”

Then her expression brightened with excitement.

“The results confirmed the child is absolutely a Sterling. And apparently there’s a very high chance it’s a girl.”

Eleanor looked so thrilled she practically glowed. She gently brushed my hair back like a caring

mother.

“This time, Julian was completely in the wrong. So his grandfather decided to prepare a gift for his

future great-granddaughter and offer you an apology at the same time.”

She smiled warmily.

“He already purchased a commercial building downtown. Once my granddaughter is born, it’ll officially be transferred to her name as her birth gift.”

I blinked slowly.

Wait…

Did I hear that correctly?

An entire building?

So my daughter could literally spend the rest of her life collecting rent without lifting a finger?

And as her mother…

I’d definitely benefit too.

The sheer shock of that absurdly extravagant gift made my blood pressure spike. My vision started swimming like I was about to faint all over again.

At the critical moment, my daughter proved infinitely more reliable than me.

She nudged me lightly from inside my womb and sighed dramatically.

[Mom, seriously? You’re about to pass out over one building? What are you gonna do later when Grandpa buys me a satellite or something? Die on the spot?]

I swallowed hard and forced out a stiff smile.

“Mrs. Sterling… I… I honestly don’t even know what to say. Thank you for giving this child such an incredible future. I don’t even know how to repay your family. Thank you… really… thank you so

much…”

I struggled to sit up, trying to bow in gratitude.

Julian couldn’t help smiling at the sight.

But when I shyly tried to pull my hand away from his, his expression dimmed instantly. Without

hesitation, he tightened his grip around my fingers.

Eleanor looked at our clasped hands and smiled knowingly.

“You’re family now. There’s no need to be so formal.”

My brain froze.

Family?

Wait… wasn’t this the part where rich families usually handed over a hundred-million-dollar check, and told the poor girl to disappear?

Eleanor gently reassured me.

“The fact that you were able to conceive Julian’s child means the two of you share a very special connection. Some things are simply fate.”

Her smile deepened.

“I have a feeling your bond with the Sterling family runs far deeper than any of us realize.”

The atmosphere in the room suddenly became strangely intimate.

I could feel my ears heating up.

Just as Eleanor quietly prepared to leave and give us space, the hospital room door was violently

kicked open.

An elderly man strode inside surrounded by bodyguards, with Vivian angrily following beside him.

The old man sneered the moment he saw me.

“Mrs. Sterling, you’ve completely lost your mind! This girl’s parents are nothing but livestock farmers from some tiny rural town. People like them are nowhere near worthy of marrying into the Sterling family!”

Then he proudly pulled Vivian closer.

“My granddaughter is the only woman truly suited to stand beside Julian.’

He lifted his chin arrogantly.

“As long as the Sterling family agrees to this marriage alliance, Vivian is generous enough to adopt

that child and raise it as her own.”

His gaze turned cold.

“But if you insist on choosing this woman instead, then every partnership between the Ashford family and the Sterlings will be terminated effective immediately.”
