Before Julian could respond, warm laughter sounded from behind us.
“I just got off the phone with the hospital,” said Eleanor Sterling as she approached gracefully. “They said the baby’s development is excellent, and all your health indicators look perfect.”
Without hesitation, she slid a heavy gold bracelet onto my wrist.
“My father-in-law, my husband, and Julian were all conceived through IVF. If you can naturally deliver a healthy child for the Sterling family, trust me, we will never mistreat you.”
The baby immediately sounded excited.

I smiled softly and held Eleanor’s hand politely.
“Mrs. Sterling, even without all of this, I would still do everything I could for my child. Mr. Sterling has already given me an incredible environment and excellent care. I honestly feel guilty accepting something so valuable.”
Eleanor’s smile brightened instantly.
“What a lovely, well-mannered girl.”
She firmly pushed the bracelet back onto my wrist before I could refuse again.
My heart stirred.
Taking a small risk, I gently hugged her.
“My daughter is lucky to have a grandmother like you. Knowing she’ll grow up surrounded by love… even if I can’t stay by her side afterward, I’ll still feel at peace.”
As I spoke, I forced out a few trembling tears.
A trace of sympathy flashed across Eleanor’s face.
“You’ll always be this child’s mother. No one’s going to keep you away from your own daughter.”
Julian cleared his throat awkwardly.
“I only said not to expect a romantic relationship. I never said you wouldn’t be allowed to see the child. You’ll always be welcome at the Sterling estate.”
After hesitating for a moment, he gently patted my back.
The baby sounded completely confused now.
