That day, I’d just gotten the pregnancy report. It was our second child, so I rushed to the company to give him a surprise.
Somehow, he accidentally picked up my call.
Before I could say a word, his conversation with Edith came through loud and clear.
Edith asked him, “Tyler, you’re such a catch. How did you end up marrying Louisa Carter, that fallen heiress?”
It wasn’t the first time someone had asked that question.
Before, he’d always answered without hesitation. “Because I loved her. She’s the one I wanted to marry.”
But that time, I heard something completely different.
Tyler let out a laugh, his voice chillingly cold.
“Married her? I just want her father’s shares, obviously.”
“With the Carter holdings, Harrison Corp. locks down the top spot.””
“Once I have them, I’ll divorce her. You’ll be the next Mrs. Harrison sooner or later.”
That was the moment I woke up completely.
I’d thought about parting on amicable terms. Thought he was just too busy with work to care about

Because of that phone call, I walked out in a daze and I crossed the street without noticing the light. A runaway truck hit me.
Mother and unborn child both died.
That was my cause of death.
Tyler listened. His face showed no reaction at all.
He frowned, almost confused. “That’s it?”
I nodded. “That’s it.”
Silence closed in around us.
Tyler’s dark eyes revealed nothing.
He didn’t explain. He just curled his lip slightly, his voice dripping with mockery. “Louisa. You even died in a stupid way.”
I couldn’t say another word.
Late that night, after Tyler fell asleep, I suddenly noticed something.
The force that had kept me tethered to him was gone.
I looked down at my hands.
Even the soul rescue chant hadn’t weakened me. But now, my form was starting to go translucent
I thought, this time, I’m finally free.
The morning of the license appointment, Tyler woke up and didn’t see me.
He frowned, figuring I was scared and just hid somewhere.
He got to City Hall and waited. And waited. Edith never showed.
Tyler’s face went dark. He turned to his assistant. “Call that psychic back. This is Louisa’s doing.”
Daniel hesitated. “Mr. Harrison, wasn’t she already obliterated?”
Tyler’s eyes were certain. “She didn’t disappear. She was here yesterday.”
“She’s the one causing trouble.”
The elders of the Harrison family panicked and immediately sent for the psychic again.
But this time, the psychic just looked at Tyler with a long, deep gaze and shook his head.
“Mr. Harrison, your ex-wife’s soul is truly gone this time. It will not return.”
Tyler’s body went rigid. Then he let out a cold laugh.
“You said that last time too. But Louisa never left.”
“I know her. She’s stirring up trouble, then hiding somewhere like she did before.”
The psychic sighed slowly. “You’ve already missed it. Why cling so hard to what you won’t release?”
