99 Times He Left Me Mid-Moon for a Fake Omega – The 100th? I Marked His Rival Alpha Chapter 09
When we got back that night, I saw Maddox waiting at our door again.
Cassian glanced at me and frowned. He was about to have him removed, but I stopped.
“Let me talk to him. Just a few minutes. Go inside, okay?”
I knew. If I didn’t make it clear, Maddox would never stop. He’d keep ripping through my new life.
Better to end it today. Once. For good.
Cassian squeezed my hand. Went inside.
I walked up to Maddox.
“Say what you came to say.”
My coldness cut him. His face went pale as death.
“Arden. Come home. I know I hurt you. But give me another chance. Please. I’ll make it right.”
“I was wrong. I misjudged everyone…”
“When I was little, I got taken by rogues. Almost died. A little she-wolf appeared and saved me. I thought that wolf was Quinn. So I tried to repay her. That’s why I made all those mistakes.”
“But then I found out. The one who saved me? It was you.”
He was crying and laughing at the same time. Pathetic. His wolf whimpering under his skin.
I stood frozen. Never imagined that pup could be Maddox.
I closed my eyes. Tears came anyway.
The fire flashed in my brain. The one that took my parents. I could still feel that silver heat.
I clenched my fists. My wolf snarled-but low, hurt.
“Disappointment doesn’t pile up all at once. It builds. Day by day.”
“I texted you. You never replied. I linked you from the crash. You didn’t answer. When I was in the worst pain of my life, you were with another female.”
“Maddox. YOU let Quinn cost us our pup. I can never forgive that.”
“And now I know. It’s not just our pup between us. It’s my parents too.”
“If I’d known back then? I never would’ve saved you.”
Maddox’s body swayed. His legs gave out. He collapsed to his knees. Face twisted with anguish.
“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”
I wiped my face. Turned away.
“Don’t come near me again.”
“The old Arden? Dead.”
I walked.
Behind me, his sobs ripped through the night. His wolf howled-broken.
“I’m sorry, Arden. I didn’t hire those wolves to hurt you. I just wanted to scare you. I’m sorry for hurting you…”
My steps didn’t slow.
Didn’t matter anymore.
When I was drowning in pain, Cassian held me.
When I stopped eating-couldn’t shift, couldn’t breathe-he showed up and pulled me back.
When I lost hope and kept trying to reject my own wolf, he held my paw. Over and over. Told me someone in this world still cared. That I wasn’t alone.
The wolf who had a crush on me when we were pups. The one who promised to take care of me forever.
He kept his word.
I quickened my pace. Pushed open the door. Threw myself into his arms.
The past? Buried.
The future? Ours.
