You Can Keep Him, Tramp Chapter 06

We’re settling this today! Nobody’s leaving until we know the truth.”

I knew the relatives weren’t stepping in because they cared about me. They just wanted to stir things up and see what they could get out of the fallout.

Still, for once, their meddling worked in my favor.

Dad finally snapped.

“Enough!”

Kyle stopped in his tracks.

“If Emily wants a DNA test, then we’re doing one. Today, we’re finding out exactly who’s lying, and who’s been making a fool of this family.”

Once the samples were collected, the testing staff packed everything up and left.

The ballroom fell into a tense, suffocating silence.

The guests clearly had no interest in sticking around after that. One by one, they got up, made their excuses, and left.

Dad’s face had gone gray. Just minutes ago, he was laughing and greeting guests. Now, he looked completely worn

out.

Lsighed and stepped over to steady him. His whole body was trembling.

Dad didn’t say a word. He simply let me help him out of the ballroom, one slow step at a time.

After I got him settled in his room, my phone buzzed.

It was Chloe.

[You’ve got some nerve. Don’t think this is enough to take me down. I’m warning you. Stop while you still can.

[Keep pushing this, and I’ll make sure everyone we know hears exactly what kind of cold–blooded, selfish woman you are. I’ll destroy your reputation and leave you with nothing.]

I took screenshots, saved them, and blocked her.

I was just about to leave for the office when Dad called out behind me.

“Know when to stop. Don’t push this too far.”

From the way he said it, Dad clearly already had a good idea what the truth was.

I gave a short nod, then turned and left for the office.

As soon as I arrived, I went straight to the finance department. I showed them my shareholder authorization and the temporary power of attorney Dad had signed earlier, then told them to pull every financial record tied to Chloe from the day she joined the company.

The finance team looked surprised, but once they confirmed the paperwork, they got to work.

It didn’t take long for the problems to start surfacing.

Chloe had been siphoning money out of the company for years.

She used fake project contracts, padded expenses, and other accounting tricks to funnel large sums into accounts she controlled,

Worse, she had quietly redirected several of the company’s most profitable deals to shell companies registered in her name. She had made herself a fortune while leaving the company to absorb the losses.

Even the gifts Chloe bought for Dad had been billed to the company at several times what they actually cost, with the difference going straight into her pocket.

The books might have looked clean at first glance, but once I dug deeper, the holes were everywhere.

Three days later, someone from the testing center delivered the DNA results.

The report was clear: both children were biologically related to Chloe. Neither of them was biologically related to

me.
I wasn’t surprised. The results only confirmed what I already knew.

Now, it was time to tear apart the life Chloe had worked so hard to steal.

With the report in hand, I headed straight to the hospital.

Dad had been rushed there the night before after his blood pressure suddenly shot up.

Naturally, Chloe and Kyle weren’t about to miss the chance to get back on Dad’s good side. They were both at the hospital, hovering around him like they hadn’t done anything wrong.

“Slow down, Mr. Rogers. Here, let me help.” Chloe’s syrupy voice made my stomach turn.

“Dad, if you need anything, just say the word. I’ll get the nurse,” Kyle chimed in, sounding every bit like the concerned son–in–law.

Dad leaned back against the pillows, his face still pale. He ignored both of them.

When Chloe and Kyle heard me come in, they both turned. The moment they saw me, their expressions tightened. “Emily, you’re here.” Chloe forced a small smile. “Your dad’s still pretty upset. Maybe you should talk to him.”

Kyle quickly set aside the towel in his hand and stood up. “Emily, I know you’re still pissed, but you got the wrong idea about us.”
