Weight Gain Murder Chapter 09

Weight Gain Murder Chapter 09

I grabbed Linda’s head and forced her to face me as I screamed at her almost hysterically. “Tell me! How did my parents really die?!”

A deafening crash sounded outside as police officers broke through the door.

They approached Linda and showed their badges. “We’ve found evidence linking you to a murder committed many years ago. You need to come with us and cooperate with the investigation.”

Linda trembled so fiercely that she could not speak.

Another officer approached Jenny. “Ms. Jenny Moore, the weight-loss biotechnology company registered under your name is suspected of illegally harvesting fat cells. You’ll need to come with us as well.”

Jenny collapsed to the floor in an instant.

When they committed those crimes, had they ever thought this day would come?

The neighbors helped me pack, bought me a ticket, and sent me away from that miserable place.

Firstly, I went to the state capital and asked specialists whether my body could still recover.

Fortunately, the doctor said the gene that helped me lose weight quickly was highly active. As long as I never received those injections again, my body would soon return to normal. I thanked the doctor and returned to the small town where I was born.

The people there carried a gene anyone would envy. To prevent anyone else from being harmed as I had been, I asked the town council to verify the identity of every outsider who arrived without a clear reason.

Three months later, Linda was sentenced to death.

Meanwhile, it was discovered that Jenny had illegally used my cells to manufacture large quantities of weight- loss products. She was sentenced to ten years in prison. Later, I heard that Jenny’s obesity gene had become extremely aggressive. Her weight had been stable for years, but it suddenly began climbing overnight.

She soon reached five hundred pounds and developed many other illnesses. She died in prison despite receiving

treatment.

Linda’s perfect plan had begun eighteen years earlier, but in the end, it all came to nothing. She raised me to adulthood, used diet meals as a cover, and spread rumors that I secretly ate junk food so that my obesity would seem believable. Once she had finished using me, she wanted to silence me.

But even the best-laid plans could not survive the fickleness of Fate. Every clue and inconsistency planted another seed of doubt in my mind. Fate had given me another chance in life, and I would not let myself die for nothing.

I visited my parents’ graves and told them Linda had been sentenced to death. I also told them I had changed my name back to Anna Shaw.

A few fallen leaves spun in the wind before settling softly in front of their graves.

It felt as though they were telling me they knew.

I picked up my backpack and traveled far away, beginning my new life.
