They Tried to Break My Sister. Then I Woke Up Chapter 05
The dozen or so Eastside Rogues behind Scar immediately surged forward.
Several younger Blackwell warriors had barely started to rise from their seats when the rogues
grabbed them by the shoulders and twisted their arms behind their backs.
Then came a brutal kick to the backs of their knees
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
They dropped to their knees one after another on the floor littered with broken glass and rubble.
The two Pack Warriors who had been shouting the loudest tried to fight back.
Their shoulders were dislocated on the spot, and their screams tore through Founders‘ Hall.
Theresa’s hands started trembling.
The memory moonstones she’d just used to frame me slipped from her fingers and scattered
across the floor.
I walked toward her slowly.
Theresa instinctively tried to shrink back.
I planted my foot directly on the back of her hand.
Then I slowly ground down.
“Ahhh!”
Her face twisted in pain.
I looked down at her and laughed coldly.
“Theresa, if you’re going to accuse a she–wolf of cheating, you could at least make the evidence
convincing.”
I bent down and picked up one of the memory moonstones displaying the transaction records,
then held it in front of her face.
“Fifty dollars? A hundred?”
I scoffed
“And this is supposed to prove some man outside the Pack was bankrolling me?”
I looked over the Pack members who had been pointing fingers at me moments ago.
“Back when I led the Eastside Rogues, I’d seen every kind of man there was.”
“You seriously think I’d waste my time on some loser who could only spare fifty or a hundred bucks
for his mistress?”
Walter’s face turned livid as he gripped his cane and shot to his feet.
“Audrey! This is Blackridge’s Founders‘ Hall!”
“How dare you bring a group of rogues with no Pack allegiance in here? Do you have any respect
left for the Pack Council or its Elders?”
“Respect?”
I laughed as if he’d just told me a joke and glanced at Scar.
Scar gave a short wave of his hand.
Two Eastside Rogues guarding the entrance immediately dragged a man and a woman into the
hall and dumped them in front of everyone.
The woman wore a jewelry store uniform.
Her name was Megan Foster.
The man wore a vest bearing the logo of a roadside motel.
Howard Mills.
Both of them had clearly been terrified by the wolves around them. They knelt on the floor,
trembling.
“Talk.”
Scar lit a cigarette and slowly exhaled a stream of smoke.
Megan immediately pointed at Gavin.
“It was him!”
“Six months ago, Gavin came into our store with a younger woman and bought a hundred thousand dollars‘ worth of gold bars in a single purchase.”
Then she glanced at Paige.
“Her”
Howard hurriedly pulled a folder of saved check–in records from inside his jacket.
“They’ve been renting rooms at my motel for almost a year.”
“Gavin and Paige came in almost every Tuesday and Thursday. They usually stayed for only a few
hours.”
He swallowed and quickly added, “Every check–in is in here. I also kept backup footage from the parking lot and hallways.”
The moment he finished speaking, every Pack Elder who had just been judging me over their so–called evidence of infidelity shifted their attention away from me.
Every pair of eyes landed on Gavin and Paige.
Paige’s face went deathly pale.
She instinctively edged behind Gavin.
Sweat covered Gavin’s forehead, but he still shouted defiantly at Walter.
“Walter, don’t listen to them! Audrey paid these people to put on this act!”
“And even if Paige and I are together, that’s my private business!”
Malcolm finally snapped out of his shock and struck the floor hard with his cane.
“Absurd!”
“This is an internal Blackwell family dispute. Since when do a bunch of rogues get to interfere?”
He glared at me.
“Even if Gavin made mistakes, he’s still Blackridge’s Alpha Heir.”
“You don’t get to bring a pack of rogues into Founders‘ Hall and run wild!”
“Private business?”
I laughed coldly.
I took a USB drive from Scar and walked straight to the screen at the front of the hall, plugging it in.
The next second, a full page of bank transactions appeared on the display.
I pointed at the transfers highlighted in red.
“Besides the hundred thousand dollars‘ worth of gold bars, Gavin transferred another three
hundred eighty thousand dollars to Paige over the past six months.”
“Three hundred thousand of that was stolen from my premarital assets.”
I paused, slowly sweeping my gaze across the Pack Elders who had been defending Gavin
moments earlier.
“And the remaining eighty thousand…”
“Came from the Founders‘ Hall Restoration Fund.”
The expressions of several Blackwell elders changed instantly.
They exchanged looks.
Walter shoved on his reading glasses and stared at the account details on the screen.
“The restoration fund?”
He looked up at Gavin in disbelief.
“Gavin… you took money meant to restore Founders‘ Hall and the memorial grounds honoring our past Alphas too?”
Every trace of color drained from Gavin’s face.
“Walter, let me explain…”
Gavin panicked and stumbled backward, barely able to get the words out.
“Bullshit!”
Martin Blackwell, who had been helping force my fingerprint onto the agreement only moments
ago, lunged forward and punched Gavin across the face.
“That money came from every branch of the Blackwell family to restore Founders‘ Hall and the memorial grounds honoring our past Alphas!”
Martin’s eyes were red with fury.
“Our branch scraped together thirty thousand dollars, and you spent Pack money on your
mistress?”
That set the others off
Several Blackwell elders who had been standing behind Gavin moments ago rushed him at once.
They dragged him down in front of the memorial alar as fists, slaps, and kicks rained down on
him.
“You still have the nerve to call yourself Alpha Heir?
“You even stole from the Pack restoration fund!”
Diane screamed and rushed forward to shield her son, only for Theresa to grab her by the hair and
yank her violently to the floor.
“Get out of the way!”
Theresa had been standing beside her only minutes ago.
Now there was nothing but rage on her face.
“Did you and your son plan this together? Have you been siphoning off Blackridge’s money to cover your own family’s shortfalls?”
Gavin’s face was soon swollen and bruised.
All he could do was cover his head and roll across the floor.
“Stop! Stop hitting me!”
“Paige has the money!”
“She has all the gold bars too!”
In the middle of the chaos, Paige’s expression changed sharply.
She wrapped both hands protectively around the belly supposedly carrying the male heir and slowly edged toward the doors of Founders‘ Hall.
I merely lifted my chin.
Two Eastside Rogues behind Scar immediately strade over.
The massive doors slammed shut directly in front of Paige.
Her entire body froze.
The next second, her legs gave out, and she collapsed beside the door.
I grabbed the splitting axe leaning against the table and walked slowly toward her.
Paige looked up at me in terror.
I crouched in front of her, resting the axe handle casually across my knee.
“What’s the rush?”
I smiled at her.
“The show’s just getting started.”
