The Wife Who Rode Her Black Panther Husband Daily Didn’t Know His Child Was A Leopard Chapter 06
He let out an awkward sound.
Like a big dog begging for affection.
No–more like a big cat that’d given up on pride.
My chest twisted sharply at the sight.
That was too much.
The comments flashed across my vision:
[Wow, the alpha’s totally wrapped around this drama queen’s finger. Begging low for the kids.]
[Wait a second–this doesn’t look forced. It looks
like he’s… begging for love. And liking it.]
[Am I the only one obsessed with their size
difference? She’s gonna get crushed.]
[Let’s all beg her for more scenes!]
[What are you yapping about? The alpha just let
the lead female into the Shifter Administration
Bureau this morning.]
My tight fingers slowly uncurled.
In the quiet bedroom, I spoke with cold rejection.
“I can’t tonight. I’m… I’m on my period.”
“It’s not convenient.”
He fell silent for two seconds.
Then he lowered his head and laughed softly, full
of bitter defeat.
“I know your cycle. It won’t come for at least seven
more days.”
I cursed inwardly.
Of course he knew my cycle better than anyone.
I’d always order him to shift, then press my cold
feet against his warm stomach on purpose.
I knew we couldn’t go further.
But I’d tease him anyway, just to watch him hold
himself back until he nearly broke.
The thick, heavy tension in the room vanished.
Kael stood slowly.
The space between us stretched. He loomed over
- me.
“Lira. You can just say no.”
“Don’t… lie to me.”
I’d been trying to change, to avoid the terrible
future the comments predicted.
I’d stopped picking fights, even given him space
with other women.
But he only seemed angrier.
I stared at his cold, sharp profile, and my chest
ached.
Maybe separation was our fate.
“I’ll sleep in the guest room tonight. Rest.”
His last thread of patience snapped.
He turned away coldly and reached for the door.
“Wait.”
I called out quickly.
He spun around fast.
A flash of hope flickered in his eyes, gone before I
could blink.
I stepped up and stood on my toes.
My hand reached for his neck.
He saw what I meant. His pupils shrank.
He flinched back instinctively.
But he didn’t move away in time.
I slipped the collar off his neck easily.
“Don’t wear this anymore. It doesn’t suit you.”
The comments were right about one thing.
He was the proud, high–ranking Black Panther Clan Alpha. A collar like that made him look like a pet.
Kael stared at me, stunned.
Something in his red–rimmed eyes shattered
completely.
The door opened and closed softly.
I lay on the bed facing away, squeezing the collar tight.
I tried to hold onto the last bit of his warmth.
The comments split into two sides for once:
[Wait, I was ready and this is what I get?!]
[Girl, this isn’t the no–rules zone!]
[The alpha left and immediately took the lead.
female’s call. True love vs. duty–clear as day.]
I rolled over.
I buried my face in the pillow and stopped reading
the cruel words.
I bit my lower lip hard to keep from sobbing.
My eyes burned red, over and over.
Outside the door.
Kael leaned against the wall, eyes closed.
He lifted a hand to his neck and felt nothing.
He smiled bitterly, no sound coming out.
Even this small thing, she wouldn’t leave for him.
Then he thought of the salon earlier–how brightly Lira had smiled at Jax.
His fists clenched until his knuckles cracked.
That bastard dared to chase his mate.
His phone rang suddenly.
It was Wren.
Kael’s eyes flashed with annoyance.
He hung up without a second thought.
Unable to sleep, he headed to the home office to
work.
As he passed the window, he froze.
The two girls were wide awake in the middle of the night, sneaking into the backyard garden to jump. in puddles in the rain.
Zara lifted her nightgown and spun in a circle.
Her tail flicked lightly through the air.
She suddenly stopped short.
She stared up at the second–floor home office, her face going pale.
Mia followed her gaze, saw the tall figure, and clapped a hand over her mouth.
Rain soaked into their tails.
The real color seeped out, pooling black at their
paws.
Kael stood behind the glass, staring down.
The rain blurred his expression.
He turned and went downstairs.
He ordered a delivery for two boxes of natural
berry hair dye–black and deep gold.
He knelt and dried the girls carefully.
He used a blow–dryer to fluff Zara’s tight, curled
tail until it was soft.
He looked at the leopard tail.
His face stayed perfectly calm.
Instead, he spoke gently to the scared little leopard.
“It’s okay. Daddy’ll dye it back for you.”
Zara lifted her head, eyes wide.
She whispered, “Daddy… you’re not mad?”
“I’m not mad.”
“But promise Daddy you won’t tell Mommy about tonight.”
He finished drying Mia’s hair.
Kael tucked the blow–dryer cord away, not looking
up as he warned her.
Half his face was in shadow, his expression
unreadable.
The two girls nodded obediently.
The comments exploded:
[NO WAY. He just found out?!]
[I’m jealous of her sleep right now. Her whole
world’s crashing and she’s out cold.]
[I used to want him to kick her out… but now I feel
bad.]
[Same. I can’t hate her anymore.]
[You two are too soft! She tricked him into raising another man’s cubs!]
[Sleep tight, you’re gonna get thrown to the Shifter Horde by morning!]
Back in the master bedroom.
I cried myself to sleep.
I had no idea what was coming.
