The Memories I Erased Chapter 12

The Memories I Erased Chapter 12

Phoebe, I’m standing here with another woman right in front of you. Do you seriously not care?”

She acted as if she hadn’t heard a single word, clutching David’s hand tightly as though he were her absolute last lifeline.

“I asked you if there’s still a way! Can I still make him love me again?!”

Every word tumbled out alongside a stream of tears.

David laughed at her absurdity. “Back when you were dating me, I didn’t see you acting so ridiculously devoted Phoebe, you will never get him back for as long as you live!”

Hearing that, she yanked her hand back with all her strength, sending David crashing onto the floor.

“Impossible! He will love me again! Get out!”

She swept everything on her desk to the ground, creating a deafening crash. Alongside the shattered items, her sanity collapsed from losing Damien.

The next morning, an employee woke her up from the ruined floor of her office.

“Ms. Shaw, please wake up! David ran off with ninety percent of the company’s cash flow!

“Our capital chain is completely severed now! Public relations’ compensation and the production lines are grinding to a halt, and the promotion department and managers can barely keep things under control!”

Phoebe stared at her employee with a blank expression. It took her several seconds to process the words playing over and over in her head: David had embezzled public funds, and the company was hanging by a thread.

Having no other sources of capital, Phoebe had no choice but to liquidate every single asset under her name. Only after selling off all her luxury cars and property did she manage to barely patch up the company’s financial deficit.

Shortly after, using the evidence in her hands, she had David locked away on charges of financial fraud.

However, ever since my livestream, public opinion online had been souring uncontrollably. The company’s public relations crisis continued to escalate, destroying its reputation and forcing client after client to cancel their orders.

Faced with abysmal operations, the company had to conduct massive layoffs and sell off multiple product lines just to survive.

Yet Phoebe stubbornly held onto “Ocean Blue”, even though it could no longer generate a single cent of profit for the company.

Her employees tried to persuade her repeatedly that “Ocean Blue” had the worst reputation of all. Reviving it would require astronomical marketing fees with zero guarantee of success.

Still, she refused to let go, simply because it was the sole proof that I had once loved her.

Hearing these developments, my heart didn’t ripple in the slightest. I was already packed and ready to return to university to pursue research alongside Macy.

On the day before my departure, an aggrieved Phoebe cornered me, begging me to lend the company a hand.

Drowning in her collapsing company, the endless stress had carved dark lines into her face, stripping away her usual elegance.

I simply turned a blind eye, walking right past her to head upstairs.

amien! Do you really have to be this heartless?! This company is our shared life’s work!”

I turned around slowly, saying coldly, “I don’t own a single share in that business. Whether it survives or goes under is none of my concern.”

Phoebe’s eyes turned bloodshot. Her chin trembled violently as she gritted her teeth in a desperate attempt to hold back her tears.

“I’m asking you one last time. Are you really unwilling to help me out?”

Without giving her a second glance, I turned and walked straight up the stairs.

Phoebe reached up to wipe away the tears at the corners of her eyes, a sharp glint of hatred surfacing in her

‘Since you’re forcing my hand, don’t blame me for what comes next.’

gaze

The following day, Macy and I were set to head back to university. Yet the moment I opened my eyes, all I saw was a blinding sheet of white.

The harsh lights made it impossible to see anything clearly. I raised my arm to block the glare, and after taking a moment to adjust, I realized I was lying flat on an operating table.

“You’re awake?” Phoebe’s familiar voice drifted over, her cold tone carrying a faint trace of dark delight.
