The Mafia Boss Who Buried Me Alive Chapter 04
“After you came back, you had nightmares every single night. The moment I touched you, you screamed and lost control.”
“I knew it wasn’t your fault, but I’m a man. I had… desires. The more you acted like that, the more I…”
He didn’t finish the sentence, but I understood perfectly.
“Then Sofia came over to keep you company. One night, I came home drunk from a business dinner. She was lying on the couch wearing your pajamas… I couldn’t control myself.”
“After that, it happened more and more. I couldn’t bring myself to look at you. I started lying, saying I had to work late… telling you I was infertile. When you insisted on doing IVF, I felt so guilty, but I couldn’t stop you.”
“Once you got pregnant, I really did want to settle down and live a good life with you. But Sofia started dating. You know how I am—I can’t stand the thought of another man touching a woman I’ve been with, especially when she’s your sister.”
“I had no choice.” He bowed his head like a criminal confessing to a judge. “I really had no choice… That’s why I staged the car crash.”
Listening to him, I didn’t cry or scream. My heart felt completely hollowed out, leaving a void for the cold wind to whistle through.
“What kind of compensation do you want?” He looked up at me, his eyes filled with guilt and pleading. “The house, money, anything. Just name it.”
“Fine.” My voice sounded detached, as if it belonged to someone else. “I want my son.”
After a few seconds of stunned silence, he nodded.
“Sofia actually said she wanted to give the child back to you anyway. Don’t worry, she raised him incredibly well. He’s polite and sweet. Once the wedding is over, I’ll bring him to see you.”
I gave a faint nod and watched him walk away. For the first time in years, I felt a spark of hope.
But just as I finished getting my wounds treated and returned to my hospital room with my antidepressant prescription, I saw the last person I wanted to see.
Sofia was sitting on the couch, clearly waiting for me. Seeing me enter, she didn’t even bother to stand up. She cut straight to the chase.
“Hey, sis. I heard you want your son back?”
I nodded tightly.
She smirked. “Sure. Come be my bridesmaid tomorrow. If you show up, I’ll let Leo call you Mom. You probably don’t know this, but that boy only listens to me.”
Afraid I wouldn’t believe her, she unlocked her phone and held it out to me. “Look, I only had to tell him once, and he remembered it perfectly.”
On the screen, a young boy’s face appeared. It was my child. His eyes looked like mine, but his lips belonged to Luca.
The little mouth opened, and a crisp, clear voice rang out: “Nina is a whore!”
It felt like a physical slap across the face. My entire body shook violently as I pointed a finger at her. “You… how could you teach a child to say something like that?”
But the cold smirk on her face instantly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer terror. She staggered backward, gripping the armrest of the couch with one hand while clutching her stomach with the other, crying out in panic.
“Nina, I’m sorry! It’s all my fault… Please don’t hurt my baby…”
Before I could even process what was happening, the door was violently thrown open. Luca charged in, shoving me aside to shield Sofia in his arms.
“Sofia! Are you okay?”
The force of his shove sent me flying backward. My forehead slammed hard against the sharp corner of the nightstand.
Sofia buried herself in his chest, tears streaming down her face as she shook her head pitifully. Luca picked her up, entirely focused on her as he walked out, leaving me with a harsh warning.
“I’m warning you, stay away from Sofia. I won’t let you hurt her.”
I lay paralyzed on the floor. Blood from my forehead dripped onto the white tile, one drop at a time. My vision began to dim, and darkness swallowed me whole.
When I finally regained consciousness, I forced myself into the bridesmaid dress Sofia had left behind and rushed to the wedding venue.
But the moment I arrived, my parents and Luca, who were greeting guests, looked at me like I was an enemy invader. My father instinctively stepped in front of Sofia, while my mother scoffed, her face twisted in pure disgust.
“Nina, didn’t you want to die? What are you doing here?”
Luca’s brow furrowed deeply. But before anyone else could speak, the little boy behind him suddenly lunged forward, smashing a bottle of red wine right against my chest.
“You must be that whore Nina my aunt told me about!”
“What are you doing here? Trying to steal my dad back from Aunt Sofia?”
“Get out! Today is their special day, and I won’t let you ruin it!”
