The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 09

The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 09

Selene survived, yet she was driven utterly insane.

Her face was covered in dense surgical stitches, leaving hideous wounds all over.

She screamed endlessly day in and day out. Kieran, how could you do this to me? Everything I

did was for us! You once said you loved me!”

But no one paid her any attention anymore.

The evidence was overwhelming: payments to the driver, tampered security logs, the recording of Elena’s treatment, and proof she had stolen my reserved blood during childbirth.

In the end, she was sentenced to decades of

imprisonment.

It was said she couldn’t stand the scar on her face

-the one Kieran had carved there with his own

hand. It was a hideous, vicious mark, one that no

amount of magic or surgery could ever erase.

Kieran sold off all his holdings related to the pack

hospital and poured every penny he gained into a

foundation dedicated to helping those suffering

from heart disease.

Not a single portrait of himself hung in the

hospital hall, only two names were engraved plainly on the wall: [Vivian & Elena.]

On every anniversary of my death, he would sit alone in that empty hospital room. On the table lay three mementos: my wedding ring, Elena’s unused plane ticket, and Scarlett’s registration receipt for

the dance recital.

In the signature box on that receiptthe space meant for a namedried tear stains had soaked

through the paper.

Scarlett never danced on stage ever again. On the day of the Moon Festival, she wore a plain white dress and sat all alone in the last row of the

audience seats.

Her teacher came over and asked softly if she wished to perform. She clutched the white ribbon. tightly in her hands and shook her head silently.

Kieran tried to take her hand, but she flinched and pulled away. The father and daughter sat side by side, yet between them lay an abyss carved by

death.

Years later, on the anniversary of my death, Kieran also passed away.

In his final moments, he stared at the blood bank

records. On the last page, in trembling handwriting, he wrote: [Vee, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.]

As I sat in the Moon Goddess’s garden, basking in

the sunlight, another emissary of the Moon.

Goddess told me all of this.

The goddess blessed me with endless peace. Freshly baked bread lay on the table, and warm

milk stayed just the right temperature.

The emissary paused. Kieran offered his entire

soul just to see you one more time. Scarlett wants

to see you too. She said she’s sorry.”

I set down the cup in my hand. There is no need.”

Are you sure?”

Yes. I don’t want anything to do with them.

anymore.”

A gentle wind swept through, lifting the pale.

curtains. I felt the sunlight pressing softly and

warmly against my skin.
