The Luna’s Choice Chapter 07
No wonder Kaven looked so much like Bella.Â
So Kaven and her mother were the culprits whoÂ
had driven Bella and her mother out of the SilverÂ
Moon Pack all those years ago.Â
Later, after illness and depression broke her down,Â
Bella’s mother had walked into the Forbidden.Â
Grounds.Â
Julian laughed under his breath.Â
Then he slapped himself across the face.Â
He had slept with Bella’s enemy.Â
He had chosen the very kind of illegitimate childÂ
he had despised his entire life.Â
Because of that illegitimate daughter, he had driven Bella away.Â
Julian felt as if fate itself were mocking him.Â
Just then, a warrior rushed over, frantic andÂ
breathless. “Alpha, we found her. But…”Â
Julian was furious and frantic. “But what?”Â
“Our people can’t get in.”Â
The warrior kept his head lowered, not daring toÂ
meet Julian’s eyes.Â
Julian’s voice sank. “Where is she?”Â
“Moonlight Estate.”Â
Julian narrowed his eyes. He took out his phoneÂ
and dialed a number he had not called in a very long time.Â
The call connected quickly.Â
For once, Julian spoke with respect. “Dad, you’reÂ
back from overseas?”Â
But a soft laugh came from the other end.Â
“Brother, Dad is asleep. What do you need?”Â
Julian’s blood ran cold.Â
He lost control completely.Â
He shouted into the phone, “You took Bella. GiveÂ
Bella back to me!”Â
“How can you be this disgusting? You stole myÂ
father, and now you want to steal my Moon Goddess too?”Â
Justin’s voice remained calm and almost careless.Â
“Sorry, Julian. Bella came with me willingly. OnceÂ
she’s recovered, we’ll hold the wedding right away Dad has already agreed.”Â
“What happened to her?” Julian interjected, panic cracking his voice. “Is she hurt?”Â
Justin laughed again, but the sound was laced with dark fury. “You’re asking that now? Don’t youÂ
find that ridiculous, Julian?Â
“When I arrived, Bella was about to be marked by that stupid gray wolf. She was still carrying yourÂ
pup. Where were you then?”Â
“Oh, right. The child from Bella’s belly was alreadyÂ
sent to your mother. You saw it, didn’t you?”Â
“Bella asked me to tell you one thing. After givingÂ
birth to that child, everything she owed theÂ
Blackwood Pack and everything she owed youÂ
was paid in full.”Â
Justin hung up.Â
Julian thought of the baby.Â
He had not dared to look.Â
From beginning to end, he had not dared to look.Â
He had not dared to admit that it was his andÂ
Bella’s child.Â
After hesitating again and again, he still calledÂ
Margaret.Â
The line was busy.Â
A while later, Margaret sent him a text.Â
In the photo was a small urn.Â
So small.Â
[I’ll take the child to the sacred grounds forÂ
blessings. I won’t return for three years.]Â
[Julian, take care of yourself.]Â
Only then did Julian begin to understand.Â
It seemed that overnight, everything had slippedÂ
out of his control.Â
The mother who had always loved him had leftÂ
him.Â
His Bella had left him too.Â
His child was gone.Â
He had nothing left.Â
Julian could not stop trembling.Â
Not far away, Kaven was still cursing and shouting.Â
while warriors restrained her.Â
Julian suddenly turned and slapped Kaven acrossÂ
the face.Â
“If it weren’t for you, Bella never would have leftÂ
me!”Â
Julian threw Kaven into the back seat of the carÂ
like trash.Â
Then he headed for the Moonlight Estate.Â
At that moment, I was lying in the private care room Justin had built especially for me at Moonlight Estate.Â
He was carefully feeding me soup, asking softly,Â
“Bella, how are you feeling?“I turned to look at him. “Thank you for saving me.”Â
Justin scratched the back of his head, suddenlyÂ
embarrassed.Â
“You’re my fiancée. Why are you saying that toÂ
me?”Â
“Don’t worry. Noah’s pack has been destroyed, andÂ
I tore him apart myself.”Â
“I’ve handled everything. He won’t be crawling outÂ
of this easily.”Â
I nodded in silence.Â
Maybe it was better that the pup did not survive.Â
Julian did not deserve to be his father.Â
I looked at Justin. “Did you look at everything onÂ
the flash drive?”Â
That flash drive held the evidence I had spent tenÂ
years collecting through connections in the circle,Â
proof that Alpha Mike had betrayed the SilverÂ
Moon Pack.Â
Ten years.Â
At last, I could avenge my mother.Â
Justin nodded solemnly.Â
“It’s enough to ruin him.”Â
After hearing the answer I wanted, I could not helpÂ
smiling.Â
“Justin, take me to see my mother.”Â
I had not spoken to her in almost half a year.Â
Justin wrapped me up from head to toe before.Â
wheeling me outside.Â
But just as we reached the entrance, a commotionÂ
rose in front of the estate.Â
A woman’s crying mixed with a man’s shouting. The noise was sharp and unpleasant.Â
I frowned without thinking.Â
Justin was just asking what had happened when aÂ
man rushed toward us.Â
“Bella!”Â
At the familiar voice, I lifted my eyes.Â
There was not a ripple of emotion left in my gaze.Â
“Alpha Julian.”Â
Pain flashed through his eyes at my coldness.Â
“Bella, I know I was wrong,” he choked out, dropping to his knees. It was rare to see the arrogant Alpha so lowered, practically begging.Â
“Can you… can you come back with me?”Â
I studied him with mild interest for a few seconds.Â
Then I looked away and said flatly, “We haveÂ
nothing to do with each other anymore.”Â
Julian half–kneeled in front of me, his face full ofÂ
pleading.Â
“Bella, I know you’re angry with me. I swear I’llÂ
never play around again. Give me one moreÂ
chance, okay?”Â
“Right, I brought Kaven. I brought her here toÂ
apologize to you.”Â
“I didn’t know she was the illegitimate daughterÂ
you mentioned. I’m sorry, Bella.”Â
“If I had known, if I had known, I never would have touched her.”Â
I narrowed my eyes at the man in front of me.Â
Then I crooked a finger at him, signaling him toÂ
come closer.Â
Overjoyed, he leaned in at once.Â
My voice was hoarse as I spoke each word clearly.Â
“Julian, I don’t want you anymore. You’ve sleptÂ
with too many women. You’re filthy.”Â
Julian froze where he stood.Â
I looked back at Justin, signaling him to keep pushing me forward.Â
The moment Kaven saw me, she startedÂ
screaming.Â
“Bella, how are you still alive?”Â
“If it weren’t for you and your mother, no oneÂ
would call me illegitimate!”Â
“From the moment I found out your father was my father too, I swore I would take everything fromÂ
you.”Â
“Julian is mine now too.”Â
I looked at her without expression, before my lips curved into a cold smile.Â
“He’s secondhand trash. If you’re that desperate to choke on my leftovers, you’re welcome to him.”Â
Soon, Alpha Mike would be finished.Â
And this mistress and her daughter would lose everything they had schemed so hard to steal.Â
Thinking of that, I felt even more eager to go to my mother’s grave and tell her the good news.Â
Before we left, Kaven was thrown out while JulianÂ
was escorted into the study by Ethan.Â
Behind me, Justin suddenly spoke, his voiceÂ
carrying a hint of jealousy.Â
“Bella, I met you first back then.”Â
I paused and turned to look at him.Â
His handsome face softened when he met myÂ
eyes, tenderness filling every line of it.Â
He smiled at the memory. “At the bookstore.”Â
“You definitely don’t remember.”Â
“You were wearing an apron, hiding in the cornerÂ
while the shop was slow, completely absorbed inÂ
a book.”Â
“The book I wanted was sold out, so you gave meÂ
your copy.”Â
“Your name was written on the first page, and one.Â
of your handmade bookmarks was tucked inside.”Â
“I’ve kept it all these years.”Â
“Later, I left the pack with my father for training. IÂ
kept thinking that once I came back, I would find you. But by the time I returned, you had already…”Â
He did not finish.Â
I did not ask.Â
After that, my mother’s illness kept coming back.Â
I had no choice but to take a leave from school.Â
I had no choice but to work two jobs to pay for herÂ
medical bills.Â
And while working at a bar, I met Julian.Â
I stayed at my mother’s grave for a long time.Â
Only when night fell did Justin remind me that itÂ
was time to go back.Â
But as soon as we entered the estate,Â
we saw Julian sitting on the sofa, hollow–eyed andÂ
lost.
