The Luna’s Choice Chapter 05
He seized the warrior outside by the throat, hisÂ
voice dark and dangerous.Â
“Where is Bella? Didn’t I tell you to take advantageÂ
of the chaos and bring her back?”Â
The warrior lowered his head guiltily.Â
“I’m sorry, Alpha. Noah’s pack blocked theÂ
stairwell completely. We had no way in. Besides… you and Miss Voss had already severed the mate bond. We thought…”Â
Julian’s eyes turned bloodshot. “You uselessÂ
idiots! That was an act. Couldn’t you see that?Â
Now go. Bring Bella back to me. Immediately.”Â
“No need,” Margaret said from behind him.Â
Julian looked at her in disbelief.Â
“Mom, what do you mean?”Â
Margaret took a bond dissolution decree from herÂ
bag. “Bella isn’t coming back.”Â
Julian took it, and his eyes reddened at once. EvenÂ
his fingers began to shake.Â
He kept murmuring, “How is this possible? HowÂ
could this be possible?”Â
“Bella loves me so much. How could she bear toÂ
divorce me?”Â
Margaret could not help letting out a cold laugh.Â
“Julian, I ignored your usual nonsense because IÂ
didn’t have the energy to manage you. But thisÂ
time, you destroyed your own child.”Â
“Your brother is coming back soon. From now on, IÂ
won’t protect you anymore.”Â
Julian said urgently, “Mom, even you’re going toÂ
help that bastard?”Â
Margaret, who had already turned to leave with theÂ
remains, suddenly stopped.Â
She turned back, tears shining in her eyes.Â
Word by word, she said, “Don’t call me Mom. I amÂ
not your mother. Your mother is dead.”Â
“I am your aunt. If it weren’t for you, I never wouldÂ
have become the Blackwood Pack’s second Luna after your mother died, wasting my entire life in a marriage with no love.”Â
“I have spent all these years exhausting myself for you. Look at what you’ve done.”Â
“You drove away a girl as good as Bella. What makes you think I’ll stay by your side forever?”Â
After that, Margaret suddenly smiled.Â
She looked at Julian with an unreadable.Â
expression.Â
“After searching for all these years, Bella was theÂ
only woman I ever found who was suited to you.”Â
“Julian, the Blackwood Pack values bloodline.Â
inheritance above almost everything. In the shortÂ
term, you won’t find another woman like Bella.”Â
“Listen to me. Make peace with your brother while you still can. He is the Alpha King now. WhetherÂ
you keep your position as Alpha is only a matter ofÂ
one word from him.”Â
Hearing that, Julian shouted at her like a madman. “Why should I make peace with a bastard?”Â
“If his mother hadn’t seduced my father, my realÂ
mother wouldn’t have died in childbirth and left meÂ
behind!”Â
Margaret shook her head helplessly.Â
She did not fully know the truth of what had happened back then.Â
All she knew was that woman had been AlphaÂ
Ethan’s true love.Â
Her sister and she had both been nothing moreÂ
than sacrifices in pack marriages.Â
Only after Margaret left with the child did KavenÂ
come out, trembling.Â
She asked softly, “Julian, did something happen?”Â
“That child… it wasn’t…”Â
Only then did she notice that Julian was looking atÂ
her as if he wanted to kill her.Â
Kaven shuddered and instinctively shrank back.Â
Seeing the fear on Kaven’s face, Julian’s eyes became complicated.Â
In some ways, he had liked Kaven because ofÂ
Bella.Â
Kaven’s side profile looked too much like BellaÂ
when she was young.Â
Every time he saw Kaven, he remembered the firstÂ
time he had seen Bella.Â
She had looked like a frightened little rabbit.Â
Pitiful.Â
So easy to want to protect.Â
He treated Kaven the same way he had treatedÂ
Bella when he first pursued her.Â
Addicted.Â
Obsessed.Â
So he gave Kaven every bit of the favor he had.Â
once given Bella.Â
He had never realized that from the beginning, what he loved was only the young Bella, the fragileÂ
Bella, the Bella who looked like a rabbit in need ofÂ
saving.Â
Later, Bella slowly grew into the presence of a trueÂ
Luna at his side.Â
His little rabbit no longer needed his protection.Â
She handled pack affairs on her own.Â
She even negotiated the business deals that keptÂ
the pack growing.Â
And suddenly, he did not like her anymore.
