The Impostor’s Time Is Over Chapter 06
Dad’s words shocked everyone in the hall.
They all turned to look at me in disbelief, their eyes filled with remorse. Some of the guests even started slapping themselves in the face while calling themselves names for being so easily fooled.
“Get out!”
With Dad’s loud command, everyone immediately scrambled up from the ground and ran for their lives toward the door. They didn’t dare to stay a second longer as they fled like a receding tidal wave.
Eventually, the only other people left behind were Justin and Selena.
Selena had been so greatly shocked by the turn of events that she kept her head low as she begged Dad for mercy
“Mom, Dad, I’m sorry. Please spare me! I won’t do this again! I swear that I won’t!”
She looked up to see Mom and Dad glaring at her with icy expressions on their faces, immediately scaring her into lowering her eyes once more.
At a loss for what to do, Selena suddenly pointed at Justin and yelled, “It was him! It’s all his fault! He told me to do this!
“He told me to take Sabrina’s place, to introduce myself as the true heiress, and to get everyone’s approval and acknowledgement in Jadington!
“Next, he would’ve had someone kill Sabrina, and I would become the Bloomberg heiress for real! And if you couldn’t find Sabrina, you would have no choice but to accept me as your daughter!”
I was shocked when I heard this. I never thought that Selena would suddenly throw Justin under the bus at a time like this. She was planning to use him as a scapegoat while she got away scot-free!
Justin, who hadn’t dared to say a word since Mom and Dad arrived, immediately felt a sense of cold dread wash over him. He started sweating buckets as he fell to his knees and tried to explain himself.
“Uncle Ralph, Aunt Christina, don’t listen to Selena’s nonsense! She’s framing me!
“I may not be your son, but I still have the Bloomberg blood running through my veins! I’d never side with an outsider like her to plot my own cousin’s demise! That’s impossible!
“Selena’s just saying that because she wants you both to get mad at me and let her off the hook!”
I couldn’t stop laughing coldly when I heard what he said.
Justin immediately felt his hackles rising when he heard me laugh. His face immediately turned dark as he spoke to me gently. “W-Why are you laughing, Rina?
“Have you forgotten how well I’ve been treating you while your parents weren’t around? Quick, explain things properly to them! Don’t let them misunderstand me further!
“We’re family, and family sticks together to defend against outsiders like her!”
So, Justin only thought of us as family when the barrel of the gun was pointed at him.
He’d never said such a thing when Mom and Dad weren’t around.
I lifted a finger and pointed to the corner of the hall. “Justin, might I remind you that there’s a camera over there.
Everything you said and did to me earlier has all been recorded.
“Would you now like to consider telling my parents the truth about what went down just now?”
Justin turned and caught sight of the surveillance camera in the corner of the hall. At once, his face turned ashen as he fell to the ground in dismay.
When he finally scrambled back to his feet, he threw his arms around Dad’s legs and began sobbing incessantly.
“I was wrong, Uncle Ralph. I’m sorry! I never should have listened to Selena’s rubbish! Please, can’t you let me off the hook, for my dad’s sake?
“I promise that I will never speak badly of Rina again. Please, spare me!”
Dad lifted Justin’s chin with the tip of his shoe and looked down at him menacingly. His eyes were void of emotion as he asked, “With what you just said, are you telling me that you actually joined Selena, the orphan, in bullying and humiliating my daughter?”
There wasn’t a single ounce of emotion on Dad’s face, but every word he said was coated in utmost anger and disgust. It scared Justin so much that he didn’t even dare to hold Dad’s gaze.
Justin gulped and sputtered, not daring to admit the truth but also not daring to lie.
“Speak!”
Dad’s sudden shout shook Justin to his core. In the end, Justin gritted his teeth, holding back the tears in his remorseful eyes.
After fighting with himself for a while longer, Justin closed his eyes in surrender and softly said, “I did.”
