The Impostor’s Time Is Over Chapter 04

Everyone immediately turned toward the door when they heard the booming voice.

Dad appeared with a cane in his hand. Mom was right next to him with her hand looped around his arm/They then walked into the hall together.

All the guests immediately fell into a hush as they greeted my parents in reverence.

“Sir Ralph Bloomberg. Mrs. Bloomberg.”

Dad didn’t even spare them a glance as the two of them walked straight toward us. They didn’t even have to say another word for the whole room to be in awe of them because of the air they carried.

I glanced at Selena. Her face had gone deathly pale as she trembled like a leaf.

She’d always behaved recklessly in front of Justin because she knew that she could. However, in front of my parents, she was as quiet and timid as a mouse. She didn’t dare to cause any trouble at all because she knew that it would mean the end of the line for her.

Seeing that nobody answered his question, Dad struck his cane against the floor once more and glared at Selena. Then, he commanded, “Speak! Who was the person who said such words earlier?”

Dad hadn’t even told Selena to do anything, but she’d already dropped to the ground in massive fear. Beads of sweat kept dripping onto the floor beneath her.

She hadn’t dared to lift her head or meet Dad’s gaze ever since he walked in. In fact, she didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.

Justin also lowered his head, not daring to say a word.

He knew that the other guests didn’t know about my real identity. He’d simply been taking advantage of my parents’ frequent absence at home to bully and humiliate me, acting like a tyrant.

Now that my parents were back and he was in the face of real power, he immediately put himself back in place and kept his mouth shut.

On the contrary, Lacey, who didn’t know just how serious the situation was, took a step forward and explained everything to Dad.

“Sir Ralph, Mrs. Bloomberg, Selena was the one who said that just now. But she only said that because she was teaching Sabrina, the street beggar you picked up, a lesson.

“Did you know? Sabrina yelled at Selena and humiliated her in front of everyone else just now, saying that Selena was a phony whom you picked up from the streets. She’s despicable!”

Initially, Selena had still been thinking up a way to deny it, but Lacey’s words outed her immediately. Selena was in such a shock that she quickly turned and glared at Lacey, looking like she wanted to skin the latter alive.

Right after Lacey was done talking, she grinned proudly at Mom and Dad, certain that they would praise her for standing up for Selena.

Instead, Dad just shot a look at the bodyguards. Understanding the signal, one of them immediately sent Lacey flying across the hall with a single kick.

Lacey fell to the ground in a heap, spitting out mouthfuls of blood as she whimpered in pain.

The entire hall froze in shock. Nobody dared to speak too loudly as they watched from their seats, shivering in fear.

None of them understood why Dad had flown into such a temper.

“You don’t deserve to talk to me. Go back and tell your father to grovel at my house for three days and three nights to/reflect on what you’ve done.

“If he stays there even a second less, I will bankrupt him and destroy the entire family!”

Lacey no longer dared to talk back. After struggling to crawl to her feet, someone helped her up, and she staggered

away.

After watching Lacey leave, Alvin stood up with a pleasing smile on his face.

“Please don’t be upset with her, Sir Ralph. Lacey’s still young and doesn’t know any better. If she said something wrong to upset you, please find it in yourself to forgive her.

“That said, she wasn’t wrong. It was Sabrina who started this mess. Selena was just defending herself because she had no other choice.

“Do you not know how badly Sabrina misbehaved at home when you both weren’t around? She didn’t just yell at Selena just now. She even cursed you and Mrs. Bloomberg! We’ve had it up to here with Sabrina, too!”

I glanced at Alvin and suddenly realized that it was a good thing he’d changed his bootlicking target to Selena after all. Otherwise, I would probably have been made to marry him, and my life would have been ruined.

Even now, his stupid self was still defending Selena while framing me as the bad guy. He really didn’t know where he stood with my parents at all.

This time, Dad didn’t immediately tell his bodyguards to take action. Instead, he looked at me with a loving, doting gaze as he asked, “What should we do? Break an arm?”

person like Alvin would always deserve whatever was coming for him. However, before I could even say a word, he suddenly doubled over in laughter.

“Scared, Sabrina? We told you to get on your knees and beg for Selena’s forgiveness earlier. You’d have been spared otherwise, but look at you now! You just wouldn’t listen!

“Now, Sir Ralph is going to break your arm! You deserve it!” He continued laughing obnoxiously.

At first, I was just going to go with whatever Dad had suggested. But after hearing what Alvin said, I decided to add another limb to the equation.

“And a leg,” I told Dad.

“Alright. Whatever my precious daughter says.”
