The Donna’s Choice Chapter 07

The Donna’s Choice Chapter 07

After the art exhibition ended, my flower shop officially opened.

Business was never the point. I just loved flowers.

My work was simple: arranging bouquets during the day, sitting outside with coffee, watching customers browse..

I loved this life.

After posting my last update, I deleted everyone connected to Dante.

I never thought I’d see him again. At least, I didn’t want to.

But fate loved its jokes.

That evening, as I walked home, I spotted a lonely figure standing under the dim streetlamp.

My steps faltered. Dante saw me, and his face held an expression I couldn’t read.

I tried to turn away. He lunged forward and wrapped his arms around me.

“I’m sorry…”

I struggled, pushing against his chest.

Dante said, “I didn’t know about the baby. I put you in danger so many times.”

I stopped fighting.

Dante went on, “But Nora, please believe me. I never had any feelings for Alexa. I never crossed any lines. My love, my wife, my Donna–it’s only ever been you.”

I stood there listening.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to feel. Just tired.

“Are you done?”

His body went rigid. I shook his hands off.

“If you’re done, leave. Don’t come looking for me again.”

Dante stood frozen.

He asked me, “Do you really not love me anymore?”

I shook my head.

“Dante, I’m exhausted.”

At that moment, heavy snow began to fall.

Dante stood motionless in the snow. His heart was colder than his body. Cold and terrified.

I went inside and watched from the floor–to–ceiling window. The man stood there without moving.

I actually believed him.

I believed he and Alexa had never crossed that line.

But the late–night calls. The shared meals. The passenger seat. The way his men treated her differently. All of that was–real.

Was it serious enough to end a marriage?

Not really.

But was it trivial enough to keep going?

I knew the answer without hesitation.

No.

Those things I couldn’t even name–the small cuts that gave me no reason to fight–they were slowly crushing

me.
I looked down and touched my baby.

And besides, he couldn’t grow up like I had. In an unsafe environment.

Especially when his father couldn’t protect him.

With that thought, I drew the curtains and turned away from the man downstairs.

In the middle of the night, my phone jolted me awake with frantic ringing.

“Hello?”

The voice on the other end was chaotic. “Is this the family of Dante Vance? He’s collapsed. Please come to the hospital.”
