The Day My Slow Brain Finally Felt Heartbreak Chapter 12

The Day My Slow Brain Finally Felt Heartbreak Chapter 12

David was the first to snap back to reality.

A flash of pure pride and indulgence danced in his eyes as he tenderly grabbed my reddened hand.

He brought it to his lips, blowing on it softly.

“Does it hurt?” he asked gently, before cutting a razor-sharp glare toward Joy.

“Next time, let me handle trash like this. Don’t dirty your hands.”

Turning his icy gaze back to Joy, his voice dropped into a deadly threat.

“Get the hell out of here right now.”

“Otherwise, I don’t mind making sure you can no longer survive in France-or back home.”

Staring at our joined hands, Joy began sobbing hysterically, slapping her own face over and over while

chanting “I’m sorry.”

Just then.

Another disheveled, frantic figure burst through the flower shop door.

It was Nathan.

He took one look at Joy wailing on her knees, and then at me, tightly tucked into David’s embrace.

His eyes turned completely blood-red.

He charged forward, brutally ripping Joy up from the ground by her arm.

“Why the hell are you here? Who gave you permission to bother Valerie!”

“Nathan?!” Joy shrieked. Seeing him, three years of accumulated hatred exploded in her chest.

She violently threw his hand off her, throwing herself at him like a wild animal, scratching and biting his face.

“It was all you! You did this to me!”

“If you could have kept your pants zipped, I would never have turned into this pathetic monster!”

“What right do you have to yell at me? Aren’t you just as pathetic? You ran all the way to France just to wag your tail and beg like a dog for her forgiveness!”

“Get off me! I’m nothing like you!” Nathan roared, his face already clawed open as he violently slammed Joy

back down to the floor.

His eyes overflowed with tears, his voice trembling.

“I genuinely love Valerie! I regret everything! I’m here to make it up to her!”

and

He took a decisive step forward, blocking me from Nathan’s view entirely

Nather’s face warped from pale to flushed with intense humiliation.

He looked past David’s shoulder, desperately trying to catch my gaze.

With a heavy thud, his knees gave out, and he dropped to the floor again.

“Valerie, I know I was wrong. I swear I know I was wrong…”

Just give me one more chance, please… I spend the rest of my life making it up to you… I can sign over all my company shares to your name…

Just please come back to me…

I stepped out from behind David, instantly cutting off his pathetic delusion.

“You have absolutely nothing to offer me

And everything I possess right now is something you could never dream of taking away

I raised my left hand, the diamond wedding ring catching the light, sparkling brilliantly

Do you see thir

David gave me this.”

“He gave me a real home. He cured my delay He dragged me out of the absolute abyss that you shoved me

intox

I stared dead at him, carving every syllable into his chest

“Looking at you right now only makes me feel physically sick

Staring at the ring, Nathan looked as if the bones had been violently extracted from his body

He slumped completely flat onto the floor.

“No… that’s impossible… Valerie…”

“How could you marry someone else… you promised you would wait for me… you said you would marry

me…”

“The Valerie who said those things is dead.” I looked down at him as if he were a complete stranger.

“The Valerie who used to have eyes only for you died on that operating table three years ago.”

“The woman standing in front of you right now is Mrs. Harrison.”
