The Comments Said He Loved Me But He Never Did Chapter 07

I spent a full week resting peacefully in Willow Springs, completely far away from the noise and drama of the entertainment industry.

No work messages blowing up my phone. No one to constantly cater to. The days were simple and

relaxed-peaceful, healing.

I occasionally scrolled through social media and saw former industry friends quietly sending me comforting messages. Without exception, every single one said the same thing: I got the short end

of the stick.

And Zane? He had completely fallen from the altar of top-tier stardom.

In that one week, his reputation was circling the drain. The wave of fans turning against him grew stronger and stronger. The filter of his multi-billion dollar box office success completely shattered.

He went off the grid completely. He locked himself inside and refused to come out. He refused every interview and every PR attempt at damage control. Except for going crazy trying to find me.

Phone calls, texts, messaging apps, DMS-every channel he had to reach me, he blew up my phone from every angle, over and over.

I left him on read across the board. Didn’t pick up. Didn’t text back. Blocked and deleted every single message. I cut every last thread between us.

Back then, I used to be afraid of making him angry. Afraid of making him sad. Afraid of his silent treatments. Every time, I bowed my head first.

Now? I was only afraid of not being decisive enough. Afraid of falling into the same trap again.

One evening, one day, right after dinner, I went out for a walk. My phone rang suddenly. It was Harrison Vance-the old boss I hadn’t heard from in a long time.

I hesitated for a second, but I still picked up.

His voice no longer carried the fury from back then. Just helplessness and a heavy sigh.

“Eden, Zane’s been camped outside the company waiting for you for three days. He comes every day asking where you are. He’s a hot mess.”

I kept walking. My voice was flat. “Not my problem.”

“I know you were wronged,” he sighed. His voice was full of regret and sympathy. “But this time, he truly regrets it. He’s completely wrecked. Neither acting nor working. Just staying put at the

company waiting for you.”

“He used to walk all over you because he knew you’d take it. Now he finally got a taste of his own

medicine.”

I smiled lightly. No ripples in my eyes. No emotion at all.

“Sorry doesn’t cut it anymore,” I said quietly. “You don’t get to erase eight years of being worn down with one word. He didn’t cherish me when I was tired. Even if he regrets it now that I’m gone?

It’s too late.”

Harrison was quiet for a moment. Then he said, low and slow, “He said if you’re willing to come back, he’ll go public. He’ll publicly announce a proposal. He’ll drop every fake relationship. He’ll only treat you right for the rest of his life.”

When I heard that, I almost laughed. The irony was sick.

I waited eight years for him to go public. Eight years to be the one he gave special treatment. I begged him pathetically, over and over. And every time, he said no. Cold. Cruel. He trampled on my feelings like they meant nothing.

Now that I didn’t want it anymore, he couldn’t wait to offer it all instead. How ridiculous.

“No need,” I said. My voice calm. “I don’t need it anymore.”

I hung up. The evening wind brushed gently against my face. It blew away the last tiny thread of remaining obsession still stuck in my chest.

Meanwhile, downstairs at Vertex Entertainment, Zane’s figure was haggard and broken. Dark circles under his eyes, bloodshot and tired. Stubble on his jaw. All the shine was gone from the former A-lister’s polished, neat appearance.

He had camped out for three consecutive days. No food. No water. He turned down all work. Just waiting for me to show up.

The man who used to be always polished and perfect, the one everyone stared at in admiration, now looked so messy and pathetic that the company employees frequently glanced at him.

Harrison came down and told him my exact words.

“She doesn’t need it anymore.”

just five short words. Cold as a blade. They stabbed hard through whatever false hope Zane had left

He stumbled one step back. His face went white. The light behind his eyes just went out.

He whispered, his voice raw and cracked. “How could she not need it…? This was all she ever

wanted…”

He really thought if he just bowed his head-if he just agreed to go public-I would immediately come running back to him like I always did.

But he forgot. Hearts don’t go cold overnight. Disappointment builds up little by little.

By the time he finally saw the light, I had already been soaked in the rain for too long. I had already walked away with my own umbrella. I was never coming back to stand in his storm again.

Harrison looked at him, this hollowed-out mess of a man, and couldn’t help but advise him. “Zane, you’re the one who didn’t appreciate her. Eden did everything she could. More than enough. Let her

go.”

Zane looked up. His eyes were bloodshot. Full of endless obsession. Full of endless don’t chase her, how do I win her back?”

regret. “If I

“I know I was wrong. I really know I messed up. I was just so scared of losing her. I used the wrong way to hold on.”

His excuses were weak. Pathetic.

Afraid of losing her, so he hurt her recklessly instead.

Afraid she didn’t love him enough, so he tested her again and again.

And in the end, that stupid kind of stubbornness was the very thing that destroyed, with his own hands, the only thing that mattered.
