The Billionaire Who Faked My Love Story And Lost The Real One Chapter 05
Wren screamed as she pitched forward, her forehead cracking against the seat in front of her.
Before she could even curse, Garrick had already ripped the phone out of his friend’s hand.
His eyes locked on the screen.
On the screen, I was still glowing.
My hair whipped in the wind. I looked like something that had finally slipped its cage,
Inside the car, the silence was suffocating.
“Whose name did she just say?”
The words came out scraped raw.
His friend glanced at him, reading his face, and took too long to answer.
“Silas… Silas Marlowe.”
Everyone in Northbridge used to know that name.
People said the Marlowe, Whitlock, and Ashford heirs were each more ruthless than the last.
Until the day Silas and I were supposed to get married.
Garrick drove straight into us and kept me hidden for five years.
After that, Silas stopped running his company. Every resource he had went into finding me.
Once I vanished, the people who’d been loyal to me drifted away too.
Garrick was the only one left standing.
Another long silence filled the car.
His friend’s voice dropped.
“Do you think Elara… got her memories back?”
Every trace of color left Garrick’s face.
He slammed the steering wheel and whipped the car across the median into an illegal U-turn.
Wren lunged for the steering wheel.
“Garrick, what the hell? You promised me this trip!”
He didn’t even look at her.
She tugged at his arm, tried the sweet voice. Nothing.
Even weaponizing their lost baby didn’t work this time.
Her jaw locked. She shoved the car door open and threw herself out.
The car had slowed for the turn, but she still hit the shoulder hard, scraping the skin off her knees, hissing through her teeth.
Garrick didn’t even hit the brakes.
It was his friend who bailed out of the moving car and helped her up.
She sat on the gravel shoulder, staring after the taillights, rigid as something frozen solid.
His friend sighed, crouched beside her, and told her the truth.
“Wren, you don’t know the full story. Garrick was obsessed with Elara for years.”
“He took her from her own wedding. She’d lost her memory, so he lied to her about everything,
and…”
So yeah. He was panicking.
While Garrick tore back toward the city, his assistant was already storming into the house.
A handful of his security guards tried to grab my phone and kill the stream.
I raised an eyebrow and dropped every single one of them to the floor.
The phone kept recording, pointed out past the balcony.
Sycamore trees. Brick buildings. The clock tower on the skyline.
More than enough to pinpoint where I lived.
Garrick’s calls lit up my phone nonstop.
I didn’t answer.
I packed my things in silence.
If you could’ve watched us from above, it would’ve looked like the cruelest kind of comedy.
On the interstate, Garrick had the pedal to the floor, begging under his breath.
Faster.
Faster.
“Elara, wait. Please. Just wait for me.”
The universe wasn’t on his side. Traffic locked solid.
He ditched the car at the interchange and ran.
His side split open again.
Blood soaked through his shirt. He didn’t notice. He didn’t care.
He just kept hammering on the door.
“Elara! Open the door!”
He pounded until his knuckles bled. The door finally opened.
But by then, I’d packed everything.
I popped the SIM card, flushed it, and zipped my bag shut.
Fists hit the front door. Hard and fast.
I walked to the entryway. Took a breath. Opened the door.
