On the other end, Sierra laughed. Careless.
“What right does she have to our money? It’s joint property. Mine and yours.”
“I was just teaching her a lesson. So she’d know what she’s not allowed to want.”

Dad’s face went from gray to purple.
Something dark and ugly flickered in his eyes. Then he roared with pure fury.
“Are you insane? Do you know you killed my Lauren?”
Sierra paused. Then pouted.
“That crazy woman killed herself. What’s that got to do with me?”
“She just couldn’t handle her own life. Weak.”
“Connor. Are you really yelling at me over her? Did that little brat say something else to you? I knew she wouldn’t let it go.”
“I’m your real wife. Don’t forget-they’re the reason I can never have children…”
Dad hung up before she finished.
His face promised violence.
He looked at me with something like guilt. Then left me with one sentence.
“Annie. Wait for me.”

Over the next few days, Harrington Group went after the Vance family like a wild animal.
In just one week, Vance stock crashed. Their company went under.
Sierra came to scream at Dad. Threatened him with her parents being on their deathbed.
Dad just laughed at her.
“I helped them play the market all these years. I threw away my wife and daughter to marry you. I’ve paid that debt a hundred times over.”
“You killed Lauren. You had Annie’s leg broken. Your whole family knew. They all helped cover for you.”
“You owe Lauren a life. I’m going to make you pay.”
Sierra couldn’t believe it. Hadn’t seen it coming.
She threw her arms around him and cried.
“Connor. I only did it because I love you so much.”
“I’m your wife now. For the sake of our three years together, please. Let my family go. Spare my
parents.”
“My dad was admitted last night. Brain hemorrhage. My mom had a heart attack from the
stress.”

Before she could finish, Dad knocked her to the ground with one slap.
“It’s easy for you to say. You’re not the one who got hurt.”
“Do you have any idea what Annie went through losing her mother?”
“You want me to let you off the hook? What about Lauren? You had her beaten to death. And
Annie’s leg, you want me to forget about that too?”
“You destroyed Annie’s life. She never even got to take her SATS.”

Sierra held her face. Her eyes burned with jealousy and hate.
“They deserved it.”
“We were childhood sweethearts. We were engaged first.”
“That bitch Lauren stole you from me. What right did she have to be Mrs. Harrington?”
