Suing My Ex, the Don Chapter 07

Alexander returned to his empty estate looking completely hollowed out. His desk was cluttered with the private investigator’s raw dossiers.

Right at the top was a document from three years ago: Grace Reed’s emergency medical intake report. Eight weeks pregnant. Male fetus.

The date matched the exact night Isabella had returned to New York. To celebrate her arrival, he had thrown a massive gala at the De Luca manor, systematically ignoring every single desperate call from Grace’s number.

During the party, Isabella had giggled like a child, playing with the family’s ancient sacred icons. That night, Isabella had successfully cleared nine consecutive burning rituals. The entire high-society crowd went wild, praising her as the woman ordained by God to lead the De Luca household.

He had smiled so proudly back then, because those nine perfect burns were a miracle he had personally rigged using chemical accelerators to buy her the family’s acceptance. Everything had gone exactly according to his plan. Isabella was showered with luxury, and for the first time, the orphan girl was treated like a queen.

What had he told Grace the next morning?

“Isabella comes from nothing, I have to give her an edge. You’re brilliant, Grace-you don’t need me to survive.”

And Grace had done exactly that, vanishing from his universe. He had spent the last three years pretending he was fine, yet every single night when he held Isabella in the dark, the name that slipped from his throat was the woman who had walked away.

Now, she was back, but the fragile girl who worshipped him was entirely gone. She was an unyielding force in a federal courtroom, entirely cold, entirely detached. He had convinced himself she was just acting out of spite, but the reality was far worse: her ice was simply the armor she

wore to survive the destruction he had caused.

Alexander violently knocked back the remaining whiskey in his glass. The alcohol burned his throat, matched by an agonizing suffocation in his chest. He collapsed onto the hardwood floor.

He began to hallucinate, imagining a timeline where he hadn’t rigged the icons, a reality where he had chosen the woman who loved him with her entire soul… would things have ended differently?

The corporate prince finally had to swallow the bitter truth: he was drowning in absolute regret.

The double doors of his study quietly clicked open, and Isabella stepped inside holding a warm

glass of milk. “Alexander, you need to eat. Even if the firm is gone, I know your brilliance We car build a brand-new empire from the ground up.”

Alexander turned his eyes to her, staring with total detachment. She was still putting on that fragile, helpless white-rabbit routin-the exact persona that had triggered his protective instincts years ago. But tonight, looking at her face only filled him with absolute disgust.

“Isabella, get out. Leave me the hell alone.”

Isabella’s supportive smile completely froze, her eyes turning red with shock. On any other night, Alexander would have instantly pulled her into his arms. Tonight, he remained entirely frozen. Isabella bit her lip, quietly shutting the door behind her.

In the silence of the room, his phone violently vibrated. Alexander snatched it up, and the frantic voice of his lead investigator came through.

“Mr. De Luca, I traced the wire transfers from three years ago… The medical trust account for Grace Reed’s mother wasn’t closed due to an administrative issue. The capital was intentionally clawed back by an authorized user.”

“Because the account went into default, the clinic halted the emergency operation. We recovered an audio log from the hospital’s billing office. Your wife personally called them that morning, stating the De Luca foundation was withdrawing all financial liability for the patient… ”

Alexander’s brain completely short-circuited as the world went silent.
