Suing My Ex, the Don Chapter 05
I didn’t blink, locking my gaze directly onto Alexander’s eyes. He clenched his jaw so tight his veins bulged, staring back at me with absolute fury. He had calculated everything, but he hadn’t calculated that I would literally bleed to destroy him.
The De Luca defense attorneys were completely paralyzed. Their lead counsel quickly recovered, raising his hand toward the bench, “Your Honor, the prosecution counsel has sustained severe physical trauma. Her current mental competency and cognitive clarity are highly questionable.
“For the absolute integrity of these federal proceedings, I move for an immediate adjournment!”
“Objection!” I barked, my voice raspy but sharp.
I knew their playbook. If the judge granted a stay today, the De Luca machine would use every backroom channel to completely dismantle the case, ensuring I never stood before a jury again.
“My cognitive function is entirely unimpeachable, Your Honor. The government demands the
immediate commencement of this trial!”
“Order!” the judge boomed, slamming his gavel down to silence the murmuring gallery. He looked down at me from the bench, a flash of genuine respect crossing his stern face. My white suit was practically soaked through with crimson blood.
“Counsel, are you absolutely certain you do not require a medical recess?”
I ignored the agonizing burn of the lacerations across my palms, anchoring my voice. “I am certain,
Your Honor.”
The gavel struck again, and the trial officially commenced.
As I threw open the primary case file, the blood from my fingertips left a trail of stark red prints across the clean white legal papers. Every exhibit, every financial chart was marked by my own blood.
When I began reading the opening statement, my voice didn’t rattle; it landed like iron. I didn’t just present sterile financial balances; I brought forth the translated pain of three hundred ruined lives, exposing the systemic cruelty of the De Luca empire.
Across the aisle, the defense team was falling into absolute panic. They were completely underprepared. Alexander had assured them that the prosecution table would remain empty today. They hadn’t even drafted rebuttals for our core forensic evidence, stumbling over their words and offering nothing but weak procedural objections.
Sweat poured down the lead defense lawyer’s forehead, and he couldn’t even bring himself to look Alexander in the eye. Alexander’s face had twisted into something utterly monstrous.
Until finally, I dropped the ultimate piece of hidden evidence: the unredacted master ledger showing their primary money laundering loop.
The defense lawyer completely deflated, collapsing backward into his leather chair in absolute silence. The gallery erupted into a roar of vindication as the victims’ families stared down the De Luca cartel. Isabella, realizing the ship was sinking, quietly gathered Sophia and snuck out through the back row.
The federal judge nodded, bringing his gavel down one final time with absolute authority, “This court finds the De Luca Group guilty on all counts of grand larceny and wire fraud. The defendant is ordered to pay restitution at a punitive rate of two hundred percent of total damages to all listed
victims.”
The trial was a total victory.
Bracing my bleeding palms against the mahogany table, I slowly stood up amid the roaring cheers of the families. The moment I stepped through the courthouse doors, a wall of reporters and flashing lenses swallowed me whole.
“Attorney Reed, you’ve maintained your legendary hundred-percent win rate! What is your
comment?”
“Grace, rumors say you and Alexander De Luca have an intimate romantic history. Was this prosecution an act of personal revenge?”
“Attorney Reed, what about the Atlantic Holdings data breach scandal? Will your career survive the
fallout?”
Standing at the summit of the courthouse steps, the world began to violently spin, and my vision blurred at the edges. But I locked my posture, forcing every word out through the microphones, “The Justice Legal Aid Alliance exists to weaponize the law for the innocent. Stripped of my badge,
my purpose remains unchanged.”
“Furthermore, regarding the Atlantic Holdings security breach, I have secured conclusive forensic evidence. In exactly seventy-two hours, I am filing formal criminal charges against Alexander De Luca and Meghan Watson for federal industrial espionage and corporate theft.”
