Stopped My Delivery, Alpha’s Mad Regret Chapter 09
POV: Alpha Mirko
I closed my eyes.
Celia’s face surfaced at once–bleeding out on the floor, her fingers clutching my pant leg as she begged for our pup’s life.
“Mirko, you protect Sofia’s pup… but what about
mine?”
What had I said?
“Sofia’s pup is mine too.”
I had sacrificed my mate and my own flesh and blood… for a pup that might not even bear my
blood.
My chest caved in. I couldn’t breathe.
I turned to Beta Paul, my voice hollow.
“Run the paternity test. As fast as possible.”
“I need to know just how deep my stupidity runs.”
For the next two days, I didn’t sleep.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Celia crawling toward the nursing station, leaving a trail of blood.
I heard her whispering to the pup in her belly,
“Don’t be scared, baby. Mommy will get you to a
doctor.”
Every image, every word, was hammered into my
bones. Agony kept me trapped in wakeful torment.
On the third day, the results came back.
The conclusion stared back at me in merciless
black ink: [Mirko excluded as biological father.]
Beta Paul dug deeper and uncovered the full truth.
The driver was the true biological father.
I stared at those lines until they blurred.
“Mirko…” Paul’s voice trembled.
I laughed.
It started quiet, then shattered raw and broken,
scraping harshly out of my throat.
Tears splashed onto the report, smudging the
print.
I had destroyed everything for a lie.
Memories crashed over me–the day Celia had
discovered she was pregnant.
I had held that ultrasound, my hands shaking, my
eyes stinging.
Gathering her into my arms like she was made of
glass.
Resting my chin on her forehead, my voice.
cracking.
“Celia, we’re going to have a real family.”
“Thank you for staying with me through every
miserable night.”
“From now on, my life belongs to you and the pup.
I swear I’ll never let either of you suffer.”
Back then, I had loved her. Truly. Desperately.
And this was what I had done to that love.
I deserved to rot.
I ordered Beta Paul to bring Sofia to me.
She played the perfect victim.
Holding the pup, she wept. “Mirko, I just gave birth. My body is still weak. Why are you doing this
to me?”
Paul snatched the infant from her arms. “The pup
will be returned to his biological family.”
Sofia’s face drained of color. “What biological
family? You are his father!”
Her act was flawless, but I was no longer fooled.
I tossed the paternity report at her feet.
She read it and slumped back in her chair.
Then the tears started again.
“The driver forced me. I was scared to tell you. I thought you’d hate me…”
The driver was dragged in moments later and confessed at once.
“She said the Alpha neglected her. That she was lonely.”
“She promised me a place in the pack in exchange for my silence.”
“Paid me in moonstones and gold.”
Sofia stopped crying.
Layer by layer, her mask crumbled away.
Three years ago: she framed Celia for the staircase fall.
During the pregnancy–harassing Celia with
messages.
She manipulated Maggie into believing Celia was
a threat to the pack.
Even the witch’s curse–the reason for the
scheduled birth–was fabricated.
None of it was real.
I looked at her, voice flat.
“Throw her in the punishment cells. Let the Moon
Goddess decide whether she lives or dies.”
