Stopped My Delivery, Alpha’s Mad Regret Chapter 05
POV: Alpha Mirko
The young nurse rushed in behind me, gasping for
breath.
“Alpha Mirko! The pup just choked on milk–he’s
fine!”
“But Luna Celia-”
“Her heart rate flatlined!”
True panic washed over me for the first time.
“Open the door!”
I kicked it in.
Silence.
Celia lay crumpled on the floor behind the door.
One hand still frozen mid–blow against the wood.
The other curled protectively over her belly.
Blood pooled beneath her, soaking through everything.
And there, swaddled in tattered scraps of her hospital gown, lay the pup. Small, motionless, silent.
My breath caught in my throat.
The nurse dropped to her knees, her hands
trembling violently as she checked Celia’s pulse,
then the pup’s.
Seconds passed.
Tears spilled onto the floor.
“Summon the Healers! Now!”
I lunged forward and pulled Celia into my arms.
“Celia!”
Her skin was cold as ice.
“Why is she so cold?!” I roared. “Do something!”
Doctors flooded the small room, rushing in with defibrillators, oxygen masks and IV bags.
I was shoved out into the hallway, still clutching
her phone.
The screen flared to life.
Missed calls–dozens of them. All from Oliver,
Alpha of the Coldnight Pack.
A new message appeared.
[Alpha Mirko, if you lay a hand on my sister, I will end you.]
Ice flooded my veins. I grabbed Beta Paul. “Where
is Oliver?!”
Paul’s face was ash–white. “The guards didn’t recognize him. They escorted him out with a full unit. Said he was causing a disturbance, impersonating family.”
I slammed my fist against the wall. “How dare
they-!”
No one answered.
Inside the room, the Healers worked for what felt
like hours.
The pup was moved to a separate table.
The young nurse wept as she suctioned fluid from
its lungs.
Still, nothing.
I tried to rush back in the room.
The Head Healer blocked my path. “Get out! You’re interfering!”
“She’s my mate!” I shouted. “There’s a mate and
pup in there!”
He spun around, his eyes blazing with fury.
“You called her hysterical. Said she was a distant
relative from the Northern Pack!”
“You refused her surgery. Locked her in here!”
“A wolf like you isn’t worthy of the Moon
Goddess’s chosen mate!”
My lips trembled. “I…”
He cut me off, his voice raw.
“We could have saved her the moment she
arrived.”
“When her heart rate dropped, we could have
saved her.”
“Even locked in this room, she still had a fighting
chance.”
“Every opportunity–you crushed it yourself.”
My legs buckled. I gripped the doorframe.
“No. She’s always been strong. She once sat through an entire council meeting with a fever, just waiting for me.”
“She wouldn’t just die like this.”
The Healer turned away.
Minutes later, the machines slowed. Then
stopped.
The young nurse collapsed, clutching the lifeless
pup.
The Healer peeled off his gloves. His voice was
hollow.
“Luna Celia. Hemorrhagic shock from prolonged
labor. No response to resuscitation efforts.”
“Neonatal death caused by severe asphyxiation.”
I stared at him, unable to comprehend his words.
“What did you say?”
He spoke slowly, deliberately.
“Alpha Mirko.” Your mate is dead. The Luna of this
pack is dead.”
“And your pup is dead. But don’t worry–you still have another one. The one you protected so
carefully… who was born right on schedule.”
“No!”
A broken cry tore from my throat.
I crashed to my knees, pulling Celia into my arms
and wiping the blood from her face with trembling hands.
“Celia, stay with me. Please. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry
I rocked her, shaking my head wildly.
“Scream at me. Hit me. Stab me. Just don’t leave
me like this!”
Silence.
Then, a voice colder than the grave rang out from
the doorway.
“Let. Her. Go.”
