Stealing My Kid’s Gourmet Lunch for $10 Chapter 05

Stealing My Kid’s Gourmet Lunch for $10 Chapter 05

The moment the words left my mouth, Ashley burst into a wave of exaggerated, mocking laughter.

“Hahaha! You really know how to put on a show, don’t you? Who do you think you are, calling the boss of Northstar Capital to get his ass over here? You’ve completely lost your mind watching too many dramas!”

The teachers and parents around us quickly exchanged looks of disdain. It was obvious they all thought I was just bluffing.

Before long, police sirens sounded outside the kindergarten.

Two police officers rushed into the classroom. Taking in the absolute mess on the floor and the sight of Ashley brandishing a shard of glass, their brows instantly furrowed.

“Who called the police? What happened here?” they questioned.

The second Ashley saw them, she tossed the glass aside, cupped her swollen cheek, and flipped the script instantly, crying her eyes out.

“Officers, thank goodness you’re here. This woman barged in here and started hitting me for no reason. Look at my face. She nearly disfigured me! She even tried to hurt my son. Please arrest her before she hurts anyone else!”

The officers turned to look at me with an inquiring look in their eyes.

Suppressing my fury, I pointed to Sophie’s swollen hand and the shredded sketchbook scattered across the floor.

“She was the one who assaulted my daughter first. She forced food down my daughter’s throat and ground her heel into my daughter’s hand. Everything I did was strictly self-defense.”

One of the officers inspected Sophie’s hand, his brow tightening further. He immediately asked for the surveillance footage to be pulled.

At the mention of surveillance, Ashley’s face stiffened for a second, but she quickly recovered and shot Nicole a meaningful glance.

Nicole understood immediately and stepped forward.

“Officers, what an unfortunate coincidence. Our classroom camera actually broke down yesterday, and we’re still waiting on repairs. But I can personally testify that it was Madison who attacked first. Ashley was merely acting in self-defense!”

Hearing Nicole twist the narrative in her favor, Ashley could barely hide the satisfaction in her eyes. She shot me a provocative look, as if she were waiting to see what I could do without evidence.

The officers turned back to me, looking visibly conflicted.

“Ma’am, without any security footage to back up your claim, the witness statements put you at a severe disadvantage. If she insists on pressing charges, we might have to ask you to come down to the station with us.”

Ashley erupted into a furious tirade. “That’s right. Arrest her. I’m suing her for assault, and I want her behind bars!”

Staring at their smug faces, I suddenly let out a soft laugh. I reached for Sophie’s backpack strap and removed a small, button-sized device before handing it to the officer.

“Officer, this is a mini body camera I put on my daughter in case she ever gets lost. It doesn’t just have a GPS tracker, but it also captures high-definition audio and video footage. Everything that just happened is captured

right in here, clear as day.”

The moment Ashley and Nicole saw the mini body camera, the color drained from their faces.

The officer connected it to a phone, and before long, the footage began playing in the classroom.

Ashley’s arrogant insults, the way she forced the bread into Sophie’s mouth, and the moment she ground her heel into Sophie’s hand were all captured in detail.

Even Nicole’s false testimony from a moment ago sounded like a pathetic joke in the face of such ironclad evidence.

The officers’ expressions turned stone-cold as they whipped around, fixing their eyes on Ashley and Nicole.

“Is this what you call self-defense? From what we’re seeing, you’re looking at criminal charges for child abuse and perjury!”

Panic completely took over Ashley. Shaking violently, she began to stumble backward. “No! That’s not what happened. That little brat started it. She provoked my son first! Officers, listen to me. My husband is Trevor Brooks. You can’t arrest me!”

Just then, a flurry of heavy footsteps and an arrogant, booming voice echoed from just outside the classroom.

“Who screwed with my wife? You got a death wish or something?”

A potbellied man with a chubby face pushed through the crowd and forced his way in.

It was none other than Trevor Brooks, the regional director of Northstar Capital and the reason for Ashley’s

arrogance.
