The moment the director’s words echoed through the room, Mr. Rollins’ face drained of color.
He instinctively took a step back, but he still tried to talk his way out of it. “Mr. Valour, there’s been a misunderstanding. Miss Lane was getting far too hysterical, and everyone was simply trying to get her to cooperate so we could handle the issue.”
Chad immediately jumped in to back him up. “Exactly! Patricia watched everyone suffer and refused to lift a finger! She clearly had the administrator account but deliberately dragged her feet until the system locked down, leaving everyone stranded outside!”
Ophelia hid behind Chad’s back, her shoulders trembling violently as she sobbed. “Enough, Chad Patricia already hated me to begin with. If everyone wants to blame someone, just blame me.”
Hearing this made Chad even more frantic, and he turned to yell directly at me. “Did you hear that?
Ophelia is still trying to defend you even now! Look at the camera and admit right now that you’re the reason things turned into such a disaster because you refused to help!”
Staring at the shattered glass littering the floor and my completely ransacked cabinets, a surge of pure fury rushed straight to my chest.
“Chad, are you out of your mind, or are you just willfully blind? You barge into my apartment uninvited, smash my things, snatch my phone, and then expect me to apologize to her?”
He shot back with absolute entitlement. “If you hadn’t been so selfish and dragged Ophelia down with you, would anyone have forced their way in here?”
I couldn’t comprehend his sheer delusion. Raising my hand, I swung it forward and landed a sharp slap directly across his face.
With a loud crack, Chad’s head snapped to the side. He instantly exploded into a violent rage, but I
simply locked eyes with him, letting out a cold, mocking laugh.
“Pull your head out of your ass and ask yourself one question-who’s the one actually to blame here?”
