She Swapped My College Codes, So I Sent Her to a Tech School Chapter 02

I looked at her smug face and felt like I could choke her right then and there.

“Emily. What is wrong? You look pale.”

Jessica’s voice snapped me back to the present.

She reached out to touch my forehead, and her eyes were full of concern.

I moved back slightly and forced a smile. “Nothing. Just a little nervous.”

She grabbed my arm and shook it. “Don’t be nervous. You scored so high. Ashford is a sure thing.”

“I’m the one who should be worried. I’m ten points behind you. I don’t even know if I will make the cutoff.”

She looked down and pretended to be upset.

I laughed bitterly to myself.

Yeah, ten points behind.

In my past life, Ashford’s cutoff was exactly 1570.

After I was pushed out, she took the last spot.

Not one point more, not one point less.

That is why she went through all the trouble to change my application.

I said, trying to sound casual. “Don’t worry. They expanded enrollment this year. You will definitely get in.”

She looked up and smiled brightly. “I hope you’re right.”

“After you finish your application, can you show it to me? Maybe some of your luck will rub off on me. Maybe I’ll sneak into Ashford too.”

“Sure.”

Where she couldn’t see, my smile faded into something colder.

This time, I wouldn’t give her a single chance to hurt me.

Last night, I had already filled out my real application at home and submitted it.

I saved screenshots of the confirmation email in multiple places.

Coming to school today was not about filling out my application.

It was about recording her while she tried to tamper with my application.

This time, I was going to ruin her and her mother.

The computer lab was packed.

Mr. Henderson stood at the front, repeating his instructions.

“Double-check your school codes. Once you hit submit, you can’t change anything. Raise your hand if you need help.”

I found a seat in the corner.

Jessica immediately sat down next to me.

I turned on my computer but didn’t log into the real system.

Instead, I opened a practice application portal I’d downloaded earlier.

This was the official practice version released by the State Education Board.

The interface, the functions, even the pop-up warnings looked exactly like the real thing.

The only difference was that submitted applications wouldn’t go into the real admissions database.

Jessica stared at my screen without blinking.

I deliberately took my time.

In the first-choice field, I entered Ashford University, Computer Science.

I filled out the rest with my real choices too, to make sure she didn’t suspect anything.

When I finished, I hit save and stretched.

“Finally done. My eyes are tired.”

Jessica immediately leaned in.

“Wow, Emily, you really applied to Ashford. That’s amazing.”

“I’m too scared to apply, I’m afraid I’ll get rejected. So I put Ashford as my reach school and a few state schools as safeties.”

I smiled. “Yeah, everyone does that.”

Then I picked up my water bottle, pretending to take a drink.

Jessica tensed up.

She deliberately moved her hand and knocked over the bottle.

Iced tea spilled all over my pants again.

“Oh no, I’m so sorry. I’m so clumsy.”

“Go rinse it off in the bathroom. It’s going to get sticky.”

The exact same lines as last time around.

I felt a cold laugh inside but made myself look worried.

“Okay, watch my computer for me. Don’t let anyone touch it.”
