She Jumps Then Wakes Unhurt While Her Family Bleeds Ten Times Worse Chapter 03
The moment my foot hit the oil slick, I tumbledÂ
down more than twenty steps.Â
“Miss Harrington!” The bodyguards‘ shouts rangÂ
out from the second floor.Â
My body slammed against the marble floor with aÂ
dull thud.Â
I slowly pushed myself up and brushed the dust.Â
off my dress.Â
“Call an ambulance! That fall sounded bad.Â
There’s no way you’re okay!”Â
One of the bodyguards pulled out his phone.Â
“That’s okay. I’m fine.” I cut him off.Â
Maisie stood at the top of the stairs, the smugÂ
look on her face not yet fully gone.Â
“Elowen, you should really watch your step,” sheÂ
said, covering her mouth.Â
“Yeah. I really should.” I looked up at her.Â
In the private suite at Millbrook Medical Center,Â
Nathan lifted a bowl and took a sip of beef broth.Â
All of a sudden, the broth and a mouthful of freshÂ
blood sprayed across the white sheets.Â
“Nathan!” Margaret screamed as she rushed toÂ
support him.Â
Before she could finish speaking, it was as if anÂ
invisible hammer struck her. Her entire bodyÂ
pitched forward.Â
The sound of bones cracking rang out in the room.Â
at the same time.Â
The bowl slipped from William’s hand andÂ
shattered on the floor. He clutched his chest andÂ
collapsed, convulsing.Â
“Doctor! Somebody get a doctor!” Callum shoutedÂ
from the next bed.Â
By the time Maisie arrived, the light above theÂ
emergency room had just switched off.Â
She peered inside through the glass, theÂ
excitement on her face barely concealed.Â
“Maisie, what are you doing here?” Callum layÂ
against his bed, sucking in sharp breaths from theÂ
pain.Â
“Callum, I heard something happened to Mom and Dad again. I was so worried.” Maisie walked over with reddened eyes.Â
The doors to the emergency room swung open, and Nathan was wheeled out, covered in blood.Â
“Nathan! Are you okay?” Maisie rushed forward.Â
Nathan’s one good arm shot out like lightning and clamped around her throat.Â
“Ugh-” Maisie screamed.Â
“What did you do to her!” Nathan’s voice came out like the roar of a beast.Â
“I… I didn’t do anything…” Maisie clawed at his hand.Â
“Did you touch Elowen? Were you trying to get this entire family killed?” Nathan spat a mouthful of blood onto her face.Â
“Let go! You just came out of emergencyÂ
treatment. You can’t get agitated!” a nurseÂ
shouted.Â
“Let her die! She wants us all dead!” NathanÂ
refused to loosen his grip.Â
“Playing the victim is one thing. But pulling a stuntÂ
like this?!”Â
“I only poured a little oil on the stairs… I didn’tÂ
mean to hurt her!” Maisie broke down in terror.Â
“You stupid fool!” William cursed weakly.Â
The nurses rushed forward and forcibly pried Nathan’s hand away.Â
Maisie collapsed onto the floor, clutching herÂ
throat and coughing violently, unable to say a word.Â
Callum leaned against the headboard, staring at his phone screen.Â
On it was dashcam footage just sent by a private investigator.Â
“Zoom in. Slow it down ten times,” Callum orderedÂ
into the phone.Â
The footage showed what happened a second before the five–car pileup. A dark figure dropped from above and hit the hood of their car.Â
The video froze on a woman in a white dress.Â
soaked in blood. It was the same dress I had onÂ
that day.Â
“Mr. Sullivan, we confirmed it. Miss Harrington was on the hospital roof that day, on the twenty–eighth floor.” The voice on the line shook aÂ
little.Â
Callum nearly dropped his phone onto his face.Â
“That’s not possible. No way!” He grabbed his hair.Â
“You’re sure it was Elowen?” he shouted into theÂ
phone.Â
“The clothes match, and the build matches too. But no body was found,” the investigator said.Â
“That day… did she jump?” Callum’s voice was barely steady.Â
“From rooftop, 28 floor. There’s no way anyone could survive that.” the investigator countered.Â
The room went completely quiet.Â
Callum stared at the blurred, bloodied silhouetteÂ
on the screen, cold sweat dripping onto theÂ
blanket one drop at a time.
