School Beauty Accuses Our Class of Cheating Chapter 07
“If this turns out to be because you couldn’t keep your mouth shut again, I won’t let you off.”
The last trace of warmth disappeared from Landon’s eyes, and all that was left was a bone-chilling cold.
Pearl instinctively stepped backward, only to hit the seat behind her. Her face turned deathly pale as she stammered, “F-Fever isn’t something that happens on a schedule…”
She pouted when she saw the suspicion in everyone’s eyes grow stronger. A string of tears rolled down her face. “I… I really don’t feel well. Why are you all being so mean…”
Her voice was soft and sugary, just like every other time she acted cute. Yet no one stood up to comfort her this time.
Medical staff in white protective suits boarded the bus and began taking throat swabs from everyone one by one.
When it was Pearl’s turn, she immediately shrank into her seat, covering her mouth with both hands. Her eyes widened as she blinked innocently. “I-I’m scared it’ll hurt. Could you be gentle?”
The moment the medical worker brought the swab near her mouth, she jerked backward and covered her chest, pretending to gag. “Wait, I feel like I’m going to throw up…”
They tried again. Before the swab even touched her, she pushed the medical worker’s hand away.
“Don’t look at me like that. I’m nervous…”
A boy sitting in the back suddenly stood up. He walked over and grabbed her chin firmly. His grip was strong. Pearl let out a muffled sound as she was forced to open her mouth.
Two other boys immediately pinned down her arms and legs, holding her tightly against the seat.
“Do it!”
This time, the swab finally reached the back of her throat. She gagged. This time, her tears were real.
The test results came back quickly. Everyone in the class tested negative.
Even more shocking, Pearl’s results showed that she had a high level of antibodies, meaning she had most likely received the flu vaccine recently. There was no risk of infection on the bus. The quarantine was lifted.
When the bus doors opened, the sound of the school bell rang across campus.
The first exam had ended.
One by one, the students stepped off the bus. Their legs felt weak. It was as though they were walking on clouds.
The parents who had been waiting nearby rushed toward them like a wave.
A middle-aged woman with curly hair grabbed her son’s ear. Tears poured down her cheeks.
“What is wrong with you? Your father and I have lived frugally just to support your studies, and you couldn’t even make it into the exam hall?”
Nearby, a man in a dress shirt threw his daughter’s admission ticket onto the ground. His eyes behind his glasses were bloodshot.
“I told everyone you were in the top honors class. We even prepared a party to celebrate afterward. Now what am I supposed to tell people? You’ve humiliated this entire family!”
Claire’s mother rushed forward and slapped her across the face. The sound cracked through the air. “I don’t have a daughter like you from today onward!”
Claire’s head snapped to the side. Five red fingerprints slowly appeared on her cheek. She covered her face as tears slipped through her fingers. Then, she suddenly turned and pointed at Pearl.
“It’s her! It’s all because of Pearl! She said that our entire class was using exam substitutes on the bus. She even forged the chat records! She lied about having the flu and made us miss the 15-minute grace period!”
Everyone’s eyes instantly turned toward Pearl, who was quietly trying to disappear into the crowd.
Before anyone could react, the inspection team leader stepped forward and announced coldly, “After verification, all student identities have been confirmed. You may continue taking the remaining exams normally.”
Still, the parents were not satisfied. They surrounded the official immediately.
“Leader, can you arrange a make-up exam?”
“Or maybe calculate their scores based on their usual grades?”
“These children are future top students. They represent our city’s reputation…”
“Reputation?” The official repeated the word. He glanced at the parents who had spoken. His voice was filled with undisguised disgust. “When they treated the college entrance exam like a joke, did they ever think about whose reputation they were representing? A bunch of entitled brats!”
He turned around and walked away.
The parents stood frozen. The pleading expressions on their faces slowly changed to confusion, then finally to anger. Their eyes turned toward Pearl, who had already hidden behind the bus.
“It’s her!”
Someone yelled out, and the crowd exploded like a hornet’s nest had been kicked. The parents surged forward all at once. Fists, slaps, scratches, and kicks rained down on her like a storm.
Pearl’s terrified screams squeezed out from between the crowd, only to be quickly swallowed by the waves of
curses.
“It’s all because of you! You ruined my daughter’s life!”
“School beauty? You’re nothing but a disaster!”
“My son spent more than ten years working hard, and you destroyed everything!”
The police quickly pushed the crowd apart and dragged Pearl out.
Her clothes were torn and disheveled, her hair stuck out wildly like dried straw, and the makeup on her face had been ruined by tears, leaving black streaks across her cheeks.
