Rejected Fate Chapter 07
POV: IsabellaÂ
One year has passed.Â
I have never lived such an easy and peaceful lifeÂ
as I do now in the Moonwood Guild.Â
I no longer need to keep an eye on Daniel’s everyÂ
move.Â
I no longer need to cater to his random moods.Â
I no longer suffer endless grievances and shedÂ
bitter tears just because of him.Â
Master Sanders was right all along.Â
Your career and dreams will never betray you.Â
Over this past year, I have finished all basicÂ
moonwood carving courses.Â
What lies ahead is nothing but steady dailyÂ
practice to polish my skills.Â
As a reward for my hard work and improvement,Â
Master Sanders took Xavier and me out to dinnerÂ
at Silverpine Lodge.Â
It serves the most delicate cuisine across theÂ
entire werewolf continent, yet it is also ridiculously costly.Â
Even a full sack of moonstones cannot secure aÂ
reservation here.Â
I dressed up carefully in an elegant silver velvetÂ
gown, ready to enjoy a relaxing lunch with myÂ
mentors and friends.Â
But I never expected to run straight into Daniel andÂ
Nora right at the lodge entrance.Â
At the doorway, Daniel shook off Nora’s hand withÂ
undisguised disgust.”Â
The second he turned and saw me, the despair inÂ
his eyes melted into pure joy.Â
He strode over quickly and pulled me into a tightÂ
embrace without warning, his voice tremblingÂ
violently.Â
“Isabella, I finally get to see you.”Â
I knew Daniel had come looking for me countlessÂ
times over the past year.Â
Yet I never wanted to meet him.Â
Master Sanders and Xavier hated him from theÂ
bottom of their hearts, too.Â
Every time Daniel approached the guild, he wouldÂ
be surrounded and stopped by wolf warriors fromÂ
Silverpine Pack and the Moonwood Guild.Â
I knew everything about his futile visits, but IÂ
enjoyed the peace he left me with, so I neverÂ
stopped the guards.Â
“Daniel, let go of me.”Â
Xavier pulled him away from me forcefully in theÂ
next second, shielding me firmly behind his back.Â
Before Daniel could utter a single word, NoralÂ
rushed over furiously.Â
She raised her palm high, ready to slap me hardÂ
across the face.Â
Daniel and Xavier stepped in front of me at theÂ
exact same time.Â
Daniel pushed Nora away ruthlessly.Â
Nora fell clumsily onto the ground. She looked upÂ
at me with burning malice and hatred filling herÂ
eyes.Â
“You shameless she–wolf! You bitch!”Â
“You vanished for so long, why do you still comeÂ
back to ruin my relationship?”Â
“Daniel broke up with me all because of you!”Â
She pointed straight at my nose and screamedÂ
hysterically.Â
Curious crowds gathered around us quickly,Â
watching the chaotic scene unfold.Â
Daniel wore a grim expression, then turned to meÂ
hastily, speaking in a soft, cautious tone to explainÂ
himself.Â
“Isabella, I have broken up with her a long timeÂ
ago.”Â
“I have already removed the mating mark betweenÂ
us completely.”Â
I have never loved her. You are the only one I want.”Â
Xavier let out a cold, mocking chuckle, his tone sharp and sarcastic.Â
“Love?”Â
“You humiliated and hurt her countless timesÂ
before. I can see no trace of your so–called love back then.”Â
“Late love and regret are the cheapest things in the world.”Â
With that, Xavier took my hand and held it up right before Daniel’s eyes.Â
“See clearly. Izzy is mine now.”Â
Daniel’s face turned deathly pale in an instant.Â
He stared at our clasped hands, utterly inÂ
disbelief.Â
I had chased him devotedly for eight years, confessed to him ninety–nine times withoutÂ
hesitation.Â
But within merely one year, I had fallen forÂ
someone else and erased every trace of him fromÂ
my heart.Â
Meanwhile, Nora latched onto this chance like aÂ
lifeline and shrieked sharply.Â
“Daniel, look!”Â
“She already has a new mate, yet she still hauntsÂ
you.”Â
Such a fickle she–wolf is never worthy of beingÂ
your Luna.”Â
“Please come back to me, Daniel.”Â
She clung tightly to Daniel’s arm and begged desperately.Â
Daniel shook her off impatiently once again.Â
He then fixed his gaze on me, his voice dropping to a low, pleading whisper.Â
“Isabella.”Â
“Can we talk privately? Just for a little while.”Â
I stared back at him calmly, no emotion stirring inÂ
my eyes.Â
“There is nothing left for us to talk about.”Â
We walked into Silverpine Lodge soon after, and Xavier released my hand immediately the momentÂ
we stepped inside.Â
The tips of his ears flushed bright crimson, burning with embarrassment.Â
“Izzy, I’m so sorry.”Â
“I only held your hand to stop him from pesteringÂ
you just now.”Â
“I didn’t mean to take advantage of you. I-”Â
I stayed quiet and watched him fluster.Â
He grew even more flustered, not knowing what toÂ
do with his hands.Â
“Izzy, please don’t be mad at me.”Â
I could not help but laugh softly.Â
“I’m not mad at all, Xavier. Thank you forÂ
protecting me.”Â
“Let’s go have our lunch.”Â
I took the initiative to hold his hand again, ignoring the stunned and heartbroken gaze fixed on usÂ
from outside the lodge completely.
