As the host of the evening, I made my grand entrance on the arm of Julian Volpe, the family’s underboss.

The moment I stepped into the ballroom, all lights and all eyes were on me.

“Who is that woman? Why is she with Julian Volpe?”

“She looks familiar… isn’t that the Moretti girl everyone’s been talking about?”

The whispers in the crowd made Fiona, who had been basking in admiration, freeze.

Lorenzo, predictably, was the first to lose it. He stormed over. “Victoria, how did you get in here? Sell yourself to some old man? Get out of here before you drag the Moretti name through the mud any more than you already have!”

He automatically assumed I’d slept my way in.

In his eyes, without the Moretti name, I was nothing.

I glanced at him coolly, without a word.

Beside me, Julian, a killer by trade, spoke in a low, chilling voice. “Mr. Moretti, watch your tongue. Miss Victoria is the new Don of the Volpe family. And the host of this party.”

“What?!”

Lorenzo’s shriek was so high it cracked.

The people around us were stunned.

“Don? The Don of the Volpe family is Victoria Moretti?”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. That cast-off from the Moretti family?”

My father, Angelo, approached, his face a mask of thunder. “Sir, you can’t be serious. Victoria is my daughter. I know what she’s capable of, and it isn’t this. How could she possibly be the Don of the Volpes?”

“Exactly, sister, what price did you have to pay…?”

Fiona sidled up, her face a mask of fake concern. “I know you wanted to prove yourself, but you can’t just take what isn’t yours…”

I slapped her, cutting off her saccharine bullshit.

“Does it look like anyone asked you to speak?”

I stared at her coldly. “And don’t call me sister. My mother only had one daughter. She didn’t give birth to a bastard.”

“Victoria! You hit Fiona!” Albert shouted, rushing to play the hero.

I spun and slapped him across the face, too.

“You shut up too, you useless piece of shit.”

The entire ballroom was silent.

I stood under the spotlight, scanned the room, my presence filling every corner.

“Since everyone is here, I have an announcement to make.”

I took the microphone, my voice booming through the speakers.

“As of today, the Volpe family is cutting all ties—business and otherwise—with the Moretti and Falcone families.”

“Furthermore, anyone who does business with them will be considered an enemy of the Volpe family.”

“You!”

My father Angelo swayed, nearly collapsing.

The Moretti family’s entire business empire depended on Volpe channels. Without them, they would crumble.

“Victoria! You’re insane! I’m your father!” Angelo roared.

“Security.”

I couldn’t be bothered. I waved my hand.

Several large men in black suits surrounded them.

“Throw this trash out.”

“And from now on, these people, and their dogs, are banned from all Volpe territory.”
