Reader Comments Exposed The Don’s Secret Desire Chapter 04

Lilith looked nothing like I had imagined.

She wore glasses and flat leather shoes, looking slightly flustered and rushed. She reminded me of the students working in my laboratory.

“Sorry, sorry!” Lilith scrambled to pick up the cookie box.

The cookies inside had already crumbled into pieces.

She looked like she was about to cry. “Mrs. Lucchesi, I’m so sorry…”

Reader comments:

[Lilith didn’t do it on purpose. Cressida won’t bully her over this, right?]

[Broken cookies are no big deal. Damian doesn’t even like them anyway.]

[Even if they weren’t smashed, he wouldn’t eat any.]

[Does Cressi feel superior in front of Lilith?]

[After three years as Mrs. Lucchesi, she can’t let go of her Donna title?]

I still didn’t fully believe the reader comments.

Lilith and I were meeting for the first time.

We shouldn’t treat each other as enemies before we even knew one another.

I ignored the comments and told her, “It’s fine. Just throw the cookies away for me.”

Lilith glanced at the broken cookies, a look of genuine regret crossing her face. “Such beautiful cookies. What a shame.”

I smiled at her. She blushed and adjusted her glasses awkwardly.

A guard came over to lead me inside. “Donna, Don Lucchesi and Falcone are in there. I’ll show you in.”Reader comments:

[Cressida didn’t make things difficult for Lilith? Must be an act.]

[Falcone is Damian’s consigliere and most trusted lawyer.]

[Either way, the divorce is set in stone.]

I stepped into the study.

Damian and Falcone stopped whatever private discussion they were having and looked toward me.

Damian deliberately glanced at my hands, as though he had been expecting me to bring something. When he saw nothing, he looked away.

He told Falcone, “Falcone, I need a moment alone with my wife. Wait outside.”

“Yes, Don Lucchesi.” Falcone stood up and walked past me.

Now only Damian and I remained in the study.

He spoke slowly. “Cressida, are you here to talk about the divorce?”

I spotted two copies of the divorce agreement on the desk.

“You already drafted the papers?” I picked one up and flipped through it quickly.

He had already prepared everything. Even if I told him I didn’t want a divorce, I probably wouldn’t be able to change his mind.

I read the agreement carefully. The assets I would get took up two full pages.

I searched for one thing in particular.

The mountain and the laboratory weren’t listed at all. Those were the things I wanted most.

I blurted out, “Why isn’t there…”

Damian lifted his gaze and finished my sentence. “The thing you want most isn’t listed?”

I nodded. “Yeah.”

His eyes held a hint of hope. “Cressida, what do you want most?”

“What I want most…” I was about to say the laboratory.

But I caught myself. I couldn’t say that. If I said the thing I wanted most was the laboratory, Damian would definitely be disappointed.

I had come here today to win him back.

I didn’t want to divorce him—not just because of the mountain and the lab.

I genuinely believed he was a wonderful partner.

I changed what I was about to say. “Damian, what I want most… is you.”
