After that, Susan said she had not seen Theodore for a long time, then actually stayed at his estate.
After I recovered, I could finally leave the infirmary and move into a proper bedroom.
Susan seemed very eager to build a bond with me.
Whenever she had some free time, she would come to hang around me.
On the first day, she brought a photo album and flipped through it in front of me. “Rebecca, look. These are all photos of Theodore and me when we were little. We’ve known each other since we were in diapers. Our parents even said we should get married when we grow up.”
I nodded and asked sincerely, “Really? Then why didn’t you get married?”
I swore I had no hidden meaning when I asked. She had brought it up, so I naturally asked. Who knew Susan’s expression would darken right then and there? “You… How could you have mocked me?! Do you think you’re so extraordinary just because you get to marry Theodore?”
After saying that, she ran off crying.
I was completely confused.
I was not mocking her.
The next day, I ran into her again while walking through the garden.
Her eyes were red and swollen. I did not know if she had been so upset yesterday that she cried all night. But when she saw me again, she came up to me as if nothing had happened.
She linked her arm through mine and told me about her past as we walked. “When I was little, Theodore and I used to come to this garden all the time. Once, I fell by accident, and he was so worried that he carried me on his back to find a doctor. I wonder if he’d still worry about me like that now…”
Her eyes suddenly darted into the distance.
When we reached the middle of the garden, she suddenly cried out and fell to the side. “Rebecca! Even if you’re upset after hearing about my past with Theodore, you shouldn’t push me like this!”
Theodore walked over from a distance. Then, he looked at Susan, who was sitting on the ground crying. Then, he looked at me standing there with a confused expression. “What happened?”
I scratched my head. “She said I got jealous of her past with you, so I got angry and pushed her.”
I tried hard to remember, but I really could not recall whether I had accidentally pushed her just now.
So I apologized without hesitation. “Sorry. I was watching those two bees collect nectar just now and wasn’t paying attention to you. Maybe I really did bump into you by accident? Should I help you up?”
Susan bit her lip hard, not wanting to let the matter pass so easily. She slapped my hand away, then got
up crying and held Theodore’s arm. “Theodore, does she hate me that much? Otherwise, why would she push me?”
Theodore sighed. “Susan, can you stop?”
He had already seen that Susan had staged the whole thing herself. After all, he understood me too well after spending time with me. With how oblivious I was, forget hurting others. I would probably get myself kidnapped and sold without even realizing it.
With her plan failing, Susan stomped her foot angrily.
She was filled with jealousy and resentment. Why was it that she had only gone abroad to have a vacation and the next thing she found out was that the person she had liked for so many years had been snatched away by an outsider like me when she came back?

Theodore was probably tired of her behavior, so he said, “You’ve stayed here long enough. You can go home.”
Susan thought about it and said, “I can go home, sure. But the day after tomorrow is my birthday. I want to hold a birthday party at your estate. Once the party is over, I’ll go home, okay?”
Theodore still had a lot of business with Susan’s family and could not ignore her like that, so he could only agree.
Susan then slammed into my shoulder and threatened me in a low voice. “Just you wait. I’m going to give it to you the day after tomorrow.”
