My Son Calls His Father “Alpha” Now Chapter 07

My Son Calls His Father “Alpha” Now Chapter 07

Around eight that right, Bracewent home.

As he opened the door, he clung to one last sliver of hope.

Maybe Avril just took Leo to a friend’s house.

Maybe she’s just really angry and isn’t answering her phone.

Maybe…

The moment the door swung open, all his maybes shattered.

The entryway was empty. Where Avril’s and Leo’s shoes used to be, there was only his own pair of boots.

The living room was empty.

The large wedding portrait was gone from the wall. The family mugs were gone from the coffee table.

The photo of the three of them at the beach was gone.

In the corner, Leo’s favorite dinosaur toys, his building blocks, his picture books-all gone.

Bruce stood in the doorway, as if his soul had been ripped from his body.

He walked, step by step, into the bedroom.

The closet was open.

Not a single piece of Avril’s clothing was left.

Her vanity was wiped clean, not even her favorite moonflower perfume remained.

He rushed into Leo’s room.

The small bed was neatly made, but his backpack and toys were gone.

Then he saw a piece of paper on the desk.

It was a copy of the mate bond dissolution agreement.

The first line was crystal clear:

[Both parties willingly agree to sever the mate bond.]

The second:

(The child of the union, Leo, will be in the sole custody of the mother, Avril. The father is granted visitation rights, provided they do not interfere with the pup’s life.]

On the last page was his signature.

Bruce stared at his own name, his fingers beginning to tremble.

Avril had given it to him a month ago.

She’d said it was an authorization form for Leo’s school enrollment.

He had signed it without even looking.

He’d been on the phone with Fiona at the time.

Tony had called him “Daddy” on the other end, and he had laughed and answered back.

Avril had been standing right there. After a moment of silence, she had asked, “Bruce, are you sure you don’t want to read it?”

“I trust you to handle it,” he’d said

She had given him a chance.

He had thrown it away.

Underneath the paper was a thin notebook.

On the cover were two words: Detachment Journal

Bruce opened it to the first page. It was in Avril’s handwriting.

(Day 1: Leo’s fever hit 103.3°F. Bruce got a call from Fiona and left. Leo cried for long time, asking if Daddy didn’t like him anymore.]

[I made my decision. I told Leo to call him Alpha. He hesitated for ten minutes.)

[Day 6: Bruce promised to throw Leo a birthday party but left in the middle of it to pick up Tony after a call from Fiona.]

(I had Leo tell the guests the Alpha had urgent business. He looked like he was about to cry, but he did it.]

He flipped to the last page: (Day 28: Family portrait day. Bruce left again. Leo called him Alpha on his own.]

[I didn’t have to tell him this time.]

Bruce read page after page, his eyes growing red.

He finally understood how his so-called “protection of Fiona” had caused such deep, specific pain to Avril and his son.

Every time he left, he chipped away at his place in their hearts, until finally, there was nothing left.

There was no time for grief. He barked an order to his Beta. “Use every resource we have. Find the Luna and Leo’s location!”

“Find them, no matter the cost!”

After hanging up, he collapsed onto the sofa, covering his face.

His phone rang. It was Fiona.

Bruce ignored it. She called again.

And again. Finally, she sent a voice message.

Her voice was frayed with panic.

“Bruce, Tony’s been poisoned! He can’t breathe! Get to the clinic, now!”
