My So-Called Best Friend Sold My Number Chapter 04
Chapter 4 The Truth Revealed
And after breaking up with Ethan, I had zero interest in meeting anyone new.
My contact list was clean and short. Mostly women.
Actually—
Thanks to Chloe, even most of them had deleted me.
Ethan’s hand stopped.
He pointed at one name.
Victor Kane.
“Who’s this?”
“He’s not family.”
“We dated for a year. I know your relatives.”
I didn’t hesitate.
Opened the chat.
“Oh. Him? That’s Chloe’s suitor. She asked me to screen him.”
The phone passed through the crowd.
Everyone saw it. Ethan’s expression eased.
But not completely.
“Then what about all those friend requests? You still say you’re not a player?”
I shrugged.
“Didn’t you read the notes?”
“They’re all sent by Chloe.”
“She wants me to screen them.”
“If there’s no note, I don’t accept.”
Silence.
Everyone turned to Chloe.
“…Wait, what?”
“She sends her own suitors to her best friend?”
“What kind of weird sh*t is that?”
“That’s actually disgusting.”
“And that old guy? He’s creepy as hell.”
“If that were me, I’d hide it, not show it off.”
Chloe’s face went pale.
“No—that’s not what I meant—”
I looked at her, confused.
“Then what did you mean?”
“You don’t want me to clear my name?”
“If that’s the case, I’ll just delete all of them.”
“No more ‘helping’ you.”
She bit her lip. Said nothing.
But I caught it—that flash of anger in her eyes.
Ethan still refused to let go.
“What about the photos?”
“Easy,” I said. “Show them. We’ll get them checked. See if they’re edited.”
A few students stepped forward.
“We’re photography majors. Let us take a look first.”
Chloe cut in quickly—
“Ethan, maybe don’t show those here…That kind of thing isn’t appropriate in public…”
I frowned.
“They’re fake. What’s there to hide?”
The crowd started pushing him.
“Come on, show it!”
“They’re seniors from the photography department, and they’ve even won awards. All school event’s photos are handled by them. They’re even better than outside professionals!”
“You wanna know the truth or not?”
“Let them check!”
