My Roommate Fattened Me Up To Steal My Billionaire Fiancé Chapter 07
From that day on, I threw myself into a grueling, all-consuming weight-loss regimen.
I took a three-month leave of absence from school and moved into the residential, medically
supervised weight-management program.
The pills Vanessa had switched into my bottle were loaded with steroids, and my endocrine system was already badly disrupted.
The first week of shedding excess water weight and doing resistance training left me drenched in sweat and so sore that I could barely lift a finger.
Whenever I looked at the stretch marks covering my body, I thought of dying alone in my previous life and Vanessa’s vicious face. I gritted my teeth and kept going.
Undo the damage. Rebuild my body.
Every drop of sweat that struck the floor was proof that I was cutting myself free from the life that had destroyed me.
During those three months, my only emotional lifeline was the voice messages Reid sent late every
night.
“Nora, did you eat enough today? Don’t push yourself too hard during training. I’ll worry about
you.”
“The people from the business council were exhausting today. I wish I could fly over and hold you right now.”

His voice remained as gentle and controlled as ever, but whenever he spoke about Vanessa, his tone turned cold and venomous.
“That woman is finished. Tristan took her to a few exclusive places and gave her a few pieces of last-season couture he considered disposable, and she genuinely thinks she’s the future Mrs. Carrington.”
Just as Reid said, even from the residential program, I still got the latest juicy gossip about Vanessa through our class GroupMe.
During those three months, Vanessa was practically attached to Tristan.
She started skipping classes, missing exams, and spending every night at the wildest clubs and
illegal street-racing meets frequented by D.C.’s old-money crowd.
Desperate to make sure everyone knew she had landed a rich man, she flooded her Instagram feed every day with captions like (Thank you for spoiling me, Mr. Carrington.] and [The view from the top really is different.]
What she did not know was that her academic advisor and professors now saw her as a student who had stopped taking school seriously and wrecked her reputation.”
Rumors that she was a rich man’s sugar baby spread across campus.
By the second month, Vanessa had stopped coming back to the dorm altogether. She finally swept in to pack her things and announced to our roommates that she was moving in with Tristan.
Before leaving, she sent me a taunting text.
Vanessa: [Nora, I’m moving into Tristan’s luxury riverfront condo. Some people spend their whole lives rotting in the gutter, fat and disgusting. Others were born to become the future Mrs. Carrington.]
I read the message and forwarded it to Reid.
He called almost immediately, his voice laced with condescending amusement.
“She probably doesn’t know that Tristan is set to get engaged next month to the heiress of a retail empire. His father arranged the match. Right now, Tristan is just having one last spree before the engagement and keeping a few toys and side pieces around.”
“A luxury riverfront condo? That’s just one of the many apartments Tristan keeps for women on the side. Once the engagement party is over, he’ll cut her off completely. She’ll soon find out what happens in D.C.’s old-money power circle to a woman who has ruined her reputation, thrown away her education, and been discarded after a wealthy man got bored with her.”
Listening to Reid’s cold verdict, I knew Vanessa’s reckoning was close.
