Adrian’s POV
After Adrian left the hospital that day,the first thing he did was order someone to pull every piece of security footage from the suburban villa.
In the footage, Chloe’s mask dropped the moment he left.
Not only had she ordered the guards to beat Evelyn mercilessly, but she had also tried to let those men assault her.
Adrian had never seen this vicious, cruel side of her before.
His hand trembled uncontrollably as he gripped the tablet.
Because he suddenly remembered all the times Evelyn had told him how Chloe bullied her at home.
But he had never believed her.
Instead,he had always protected Chloe and questioned Evelyn, asking why she could never get along with her own sister,why she had to be so sensitive, suspicious, and petty.
The moment that realization hit him, he ordered his people to investigate everything that had happened over the years.
His assistant moved quickly. In less than a day,he had uncovered most of the truth.
When the thick stack of documents and evidence was placed before him, even the assistant’s voice was shaking slightly.
“Mr. Whitmore, I think you should prepare yourself.”
With trembling hands, Adrian opened the first page.
At a family dinner one month ago, Chloe had cried and claimed Evelyn was jealous of her new designer dress and had poured red wine all over it.
In reality, Chloe had secretly spilled the wine on herself in the bathroom.
Six months ago, Evelyn had called Adrian and told him her house keys were missing. It had been pouring outside, and she could not get in.
At the time, Chloe told him Evelyn was only pulling another pity stunt, so he ignored Evelyn’s next three or four calls and left her standing in the rain
for hours.
But now, the surveillance screenshots were laid out clearly in front of him. Chloe had stolen Evelyn’s keys.
There were dozens of pages of evidence, but Adrian no longer had the courage to keep reading.He bent over the desk, buried his head in both hands,and felt bitterness spread through his chest until he could hardly breathe.
He finally understood why Evelyn always looked at him with such disappointment.
Because these so-called little things could have been verified with almost no effort, if only he had been willing to look.
When they were young, he had promised her that he would protect her, that he would never let Chloe bully her again.
But after they got married, not only had he stopped believing her, he had chosen Chloe over her again and again.
“Mr. Whitmore, there’s one more thing.”
The assistant handed him a call log.
It showed that on the afternoon Leo went missing,Chloe had called her mother and deliberately asked her to take the baby out.
The entire thing had been planned by Chloe.
In the recording, jealousy warped her voice.
“Who gave her the nerve to come back? If I don’t teach her a lesson, she’ll never leave Adrian willingly!”
By the timne Adrian returned home, it was already midnight.
The moment he walked through the door,he threw the flash drive in Chloe’s face.
Chloe sat up in shock. “Adrian? It’s so late. The baby just fell asleep. Don’t make so much noise..”
In the next second, the lights came on, and Chloe’s words died in her throat.
Adrian was shaking with fury. The look in his eyes was so vicious it seemed like he wanted to tear her apart with his bare hands.
“I know everything you did.”
Chloe froze for a second,then immediately put on a wounded voice.
“Adrian,let me explain!”
“I just love you too much. I couldn’t stand knowing there was someone else in your heart, especially when that person was my own sister!”
A sharp slap rang through the room.
Adrian stared at her with disgust.
“Where the hell do you get the nerve? If you hadn’t lied to me, I never would have misunderstood Evie.How could things between us have reached this point?”
“Bullying Evie at home wasn’tenough for you.Even after she left, you still set your sights on her husband.”
“Chloe Bennett,you disgust me.”
As soon as he finished speaking,a baby’s cry came from the bedroom.
Chloe dropped to her knees, sobbing as if her heart had broken.
“Adrian, are you going to abandon me and the baby?”
Adrian froze.
His eyes moved toward the sound of the crying,conflicted emotions flickering across his face.
“For the child’s sake, I won’t pursue what you did any further.”
“But you have three days to leave Silverlake City.After that, I never want to see you again.”
