My Husband Said I Was Fake So I’d Learn To Be Obedient Chapter 01
When I caught Adrian Whitmore at the hospital accompanying Chloe Bennett to her prenatal appointment, I asked him for a divorce on the spot.
Adrian simply pulled out a DNA test report with infuriating calm and told me I was not the Bennett family’s biological daughter.
“Stop making a scene. Your parents have known for a long time. This marriage was an alliance between our families. Without me, do you really think you would still have a place in the Bennett family?”
“Other women from rich families still have their families to fall back on after a divorce. You? Once you leave me, you will have nothing.”
I felt like the ground had dropped out from under me. My hands trembled around the DNA report, and in the end, I gave in.
After that, I behaved.
Until Chloe gave birth, and Adrian said he would give her anything she wanted.
“Adrian, I want to be your real wife. I want Leo to be able to call you Dad openly.”
“Since Evie is only a fake heiress anyway, can she be your mistress for one year?”
Adrian looked at her with indulgent affection. “All right. Whatever you want.”
Then he turned to me, but before he could say anything, I agreed obediently.
He looked a little surprised, as if he thought I had finally accepted my fate.
But the truth was, back when I went to the hospital for my own checkup, I had overheard his conversation with my parents.
Adrian’s voice had been cold. “Only when she believes she isn’t the real Bennett daughter will she learn to behave.”
My parents agreed without hesitation. “Mr. Whitmore bailed out the Bennett family when we were on the verge of collapse. Whatever you want, we’ll do.”
Tears slipped down my face in silence as I threw my pregnancy report into the trash.
There had not been a place for me in this family for a long time.

“Since you’ve agreed, move out today.”
Adrian held the baby in his arms and looked at me as if I had become a stranger.
I stood there, clutching the ultrasound printout in my palm until it crumpled. In the end, I said nothing.
He already had the child he wanted. The one in my belly would only humiliate me if I said it out loud.
After quietly throwing the ultrasound into the trash, I went to the bedroom and began packing my things.
The closet was packed with all kinds of strange little things, but after three years of marriage, only a handful of them truly belonged to me.
Every time Adrian brought something home for me, Chloe would say she liked it and ask me to give it to her.
Back when I still lived with my parents, they always told me she was my younger sister and that I should let her have things.
I used to think marrying Adrian would free me from that life.
But Adrian only protected me for half a year before he started taking her side too.
“I don’t think Chloe is as unreasonable as you make her out to be. If anything, you’re the one who’s always suspicious, always petty, always looking for a fight.”
But none of that mattered anymore.
I crouched in the corner of the closet and pulled a paper bag from the very bottom.
Inside were the baby clothes I had secretly bought a month ago, after finding out I was pregnant.
Back when Adrian and I were still in love, we had both dreamed of having a child.
But they had no place here anymore.
With a bitter smile, I placed the clothes into my suitcase.
Just then, Chloe walked in.
“Evie, what’s that?”
Before I could answer, she let out a startled cry, her voice instantly thick with tears.
“Evie, even if you’re jealous of me, you can’t steal my baby’s clothes!”
“Were you planning to do something awful with them? Were you going to put a curse on my baby?”
My ears rang, and I instinctively reached out to snatch the clothes back.
“These are mine…”
Before I could finish, a slap landed across my face.
Through my blurred vision, I looked at Adrian in shock. His face was filled with undisguised disgust.
“Evelyn Bennett, even if you aren’t their biological daughter, the Bennett family still raised you as one of their own. How could you do something this vile?”
It felt as if my heart had been gripped in a fist, squeezing until I could barely breathe.
It was always like this. The truth would have been easy to find out. One question, one check, and everything would have been clear.
But Adrian never asked. Just like my parents, he had never once believed me.
Bitterness lodged in my throat, and my voice came out hoarse. “I’m sorry…”
I had learned long ago that I was not allowed to explain. Explanations only brought harsher words.
Apologizing quietly was the only way to avoid more pain.
Something complicated flickered in Adrian’s eyes. He pressed his lips together and said, “Finish packing and leave. Don’t stay here and upset Chloe.”
Maybe some foolish part of me still had a trace of hope left. I stood up and stared at him blankly.
“Adrian, aren’t you even going to ask why I had those clothes?”
Adrian stood there, confusion flickering across his face.
But before he could speak, Chloe cut in.
“Evie, don’t tell me you’re going to say you’re pregnant too.”
“But didn’t you tell me yourself that you couldn’t get pregnant at all?”
As she spoke, she pulled up a forged medical report on her phone and showed it to Adrian.
Adrian’s eyes darkened at once.
“Evelyn Bennett, you’re beyond saving.”
