My Husband Bought Her Snacks But Not My Mom A Ticket Chapter 04

My mom was terrified I’d get hurt. She threw herself in front of me, her lips trembling with fear, but she didn’t back down an inch.

Gavin’s alarm bells went off. He grabbed the knife out of Brenda’s hand just in time. Then he looked at me, furious.

“Paige, apologize. Right now.”

I ignored him and told my mom to go to the bedroom.

Gavin grabbed my wrist, squeezing so hard I thought he’d break it. “Apologize!”

Amber stood behind him with her arms crossed, watching me with this smug look that made me want to throw up.

My blood boiled. I said it slowly, one word at a time. “I’m not apologizing. And you two—get the hell out of my house.”

Gavin stepped in front of them, his voice ice cold. “Think carefully. If they go, I go.”

He was so sure of himself.

In all these years, we barely fought. And when we did, I was always the one to make the first move. That’s how it was when we were dating too. I fell for him at first sight, chased him for a whole year.

Everyone knew how much I loved him.

That’s why Gavin was so cocky.

“Then go.”

I didn’t hesitate.

His lips parted. He stared at me in disbelief.

When he realized I wasn’t joking, he let out a cold laugh, turned around, and walked out with Brenda and Amber.

The door slammed so hard the walls shook.

For the first time, I let out a real breath.

Over the next few days, Gavin didn’t come home.

He took Brenda and Amber all over Millbrook City. Posted pictures everywhere he knew I’d see them. Didn’t care at all.

Or maybe he wanted me to see.

He was betting I’d come crawling back, like I always did. Begging for forgiveness.

When he saw me packing, my mom didn’t ask questions. Didn’t try to talk me out of it. She just helped me pack in silence.

When we were done, I called a U-Haul and moved everything to my old house—the one I owned before we got married. My car was ready too.

The day I left, the weather was surprisingly clear.

I left the divorce agreement on the table and walked out without looking back.
