I turned to head upstairs.
Daisy wanted to come after me, but Corey grabbed her and refused to let her go.
She turned and saw Corey’s arrogant expression. She got mad when she remembered what he said.
Daisy slapped Corey hard. She was disappointed with him. “I’ve given in to you so much because of your parents, Why would you still come here to taunt Eric?”
Corey put his hand against his face and said with disbelief, “How could you hit me over that cheap thing, Daisy?
“We’re the ones who are husband and wife. Eric Landry is just a secret lover that should never see the light of day. I’ve already kept myself under control by not killing him.”
Daisy’s expression turned cold. “Get out!”
Corey wanted to say more, but Daisy said impatiently, “Get out! Now!”
He had no choice but to leave.
Daisy ran up the stairs after Corey left, but I had already locked the door.
She said tenderly, “Open the door and let’s talk, Eric.”
I replied coldly, “I’m feeling tired today, Daisy. I do not want to talk. You should come back tomorrow.”
Daisy was relieved that I was still willing to talk to her instead of ignoring her.
She wanted to say more, but her cell suddenly rang.
I guess it was Corey calling to complain again. Just as I expected, she left quickly after talking on the phone.
After she left, I sent Sienna a message, “Pick me up tonight.”
Sienna replied very quickly, “Wait for me.”
That night, I set fire to the villa and jumped into Sienna’s car while chaos reigned everywhere.
Sienna drove while saying, “I’ve arranged for someone to pretend to be you and jump into the lake.
“That person can swim well. He’s able to swim to where there are no security cameras before coming to the surface. No one will know that you are still alive.
“Daisy Truman will receive news of your death very soon.”
I smiled sincerely for the first time during this ordeal.
It was finally over.
Sienna frowned and said, “You don’t really need to fake your death. I’ve said before that I can protect you.”
I shook my head and said with a smile, “No. Faking my death is the only way for Daisy to remember me. I want her and Corey Sager to torture each other.”
There was a short pause. I looked at her and said calmly, “The torture in my past life would mean nothing if I only left her.”
Sienna hit the brakes in shock.
She looked at me with fluster in her eyes. She asked, “W… What are you talking about?”
I did not answer her. My eyes turned red as I asked, “How did you die in our past life, Sienna?”
She wanted to cover this up, but I said with conviction, “You came back the same day 1 did, didn’t you?”
“You canceled your plans to fly to Varelia because you wanted to change my fate.
“I guess you wanted to stop my wedding but ended up saving me instead.
“Am I right?”
Sienna was silent for a while before she nodded. “You’re right. I thought Daisy had returned just like I did, which was why things had changed this time.
“I didn’t expect you to be the one to return.”
At this point, Sienna’s eyes turned red, and she choked back a sob. “I’m sorry. I left for Varelia in our past life and purposely avoided all news about you.
“I thought you’d be happy being married to her. I never expected… She would torture you so horribly.”
As she spoke, I reached out to ruffle her hair. I said softly, “What are you apologizing for? It is not your fault. I was the one who chose the wrong woman.”
Sienna shook her head. Her face was covered in tears.
My gut told me that she was hiding something from me.
I asked patiently, “Tell me. How did you die?”
Sienna sobbed and said, “I was in despair after I found out you had died. I let go of the steering wheel while driving…”
My heart was filled with intense pain. I never thought she would come after me in death.
We never even stayed in contact back then…
I mumbled, “Why? I’m not worth it.”
