My Heart No Longer Beats for You Chapter 04

I ended up being taken to the hospital by Daisy’s archenemy, Sienna Chapman.

It was a surprise to me. Back in my past life, she should be on a plane to Varelia at this moment.

The Chapmans eventually transferred their assets over and migrated there.

Sienna only appeared when I died.

She attended my funeral as a friend from university.

I still remember how sadly she sobbed in front of my grave while berating me for being too blind to see things.

Why did she appear in front of the hotel in this life?

Could my return to life have changed the trajectory of this world?

There was arguing around me when I woke up.

I slowly opened my eyes.

As I looked toward the noise, I saw Daisy losing her temper outside my ward. She was screaming and shouting out there.

Sam and Sienna were like two brick walls stopping her from entering.

Daisy roared, “What right do you have to stop me from seeing my husband, Sienna Chapman? You have no relationship with him. What gives you the right to stick your nose in our business?”

Sienna scoffed coldly and said, “How thick-skinned are you, Daisy Truman? You took Eric’s ambulance from him and delayed his treatment. He almost died on the surgery table.

“How dare you walk in here to see him? Also, you are a married woman now. The tabloids are filled with pictures and reports of your wedding to Corey Sager.

“Even Truman Corporation released official news to the press to announce the marriage alliance between the Trumans and the Sagers.

“That means Corey Sager is your husband. You no longer have anything to do with Eric.

“As his friend, I have the right to stop his ex-girlfriend from harassing him.”

Sam was also shouting angrily at her, “You’re nothing but a player, Truman. Uncle Eric never wants to see you again. Get lost!”

I listened numbly to everything while in bed.

When Daisy’s father silently consented to changing the groom, I knew he would make sure that it was a real wedding.

The Sagers could not wait to tie themselves to the Trumans and would do anything to work with Daisy’s father on this.

Everything had been set in stone. Daisy could only accept the truth if she did not want to lose her reputation.

Daisy said furiously, “My husband is Eric. Whatever that was between Corey and me was just a misunderstanding. Eric will understand.”

Sienna could no longer take it. She raised her hand to slap Daisy hard.

When both women started to get into a brawl with each other, I was worried Sienna would get into trouble and used every ounce of strength in me to yell, “That’s enough!”

They released each other when they heard my voice and came running to me.

Sam was the first to reach my side. His eyes turned red from being worried about me, and he said, “Are you awake, Uncle Eric? I am so sorry. I couldn’t protect you.”

I smiled and ruffled his hair. He was only thirteen, and only a child. He was already doing great.

That was when I said softly, “Why would I be upset with you? I was the one who caused you all this trouble. Does your wound still hurt?”

He shook his head. “Nope.”

I nodded slightly and said, “You’re in eighth grade now, focus on your study. I am fine now. You should go to school.”

Sam shook his head. “I’m not going anywhere, Uncle Eric. I want to stay by your side.”

I pretended to be strict. “Are you disobeying me? Do not worry. Sienna will take care of me.”

My words were just to stop Sam from worrying, but Daisy heard me.

She lunged forward to grab my hand and said angrily, “You’re my husband, Eric Landry. How can you let another woman take care of you?”

I looked up at her and flung off her hand coldly. I asked, “Have we registered our marriage?”

Daisy’s expression changed. “We can get registered right now if you want to.”

I shook my head and burst out with a laugh. “Are you sure? How are you going to explain it to your parents and Corey Sager? How do you plan to explain this to the public?”

Daisy’s face turned pale as I looked at her, but she refused to give up. “I know you’re mad at me, Eric, but I never expected my dad to do something like this.

“I’ll explain things to him once I go home. Just give me some time. I promise to take care of everything, and I’ll marry you in a grand wedding.”

Sam was about to say something when I stopped him. I continued asking, “All right. Tell me. How long do you need?”
