My Ex Sued Me for the Account We Built Together Chapter 08

The first episode of the show aired and got the second highest ratings of its time slot. 

The next day, I got a message from Tyler. 

[Sharon, I saw your show. You’re really good. I held you back. I finally understand now–the real value of our old videos came from your creativity and insight, not my appearance. Could you please unblock me? I’d really like to talk.] 

I didn’t reply. I just took a screenshot and sent it to Summer. [Come look at this.] 

Summer called me immediately. “Oh my god. Is he regretting it?!” 

She laughed on the other end of the line. 

“I heard Tyler and Riley have been at each other’s throats nonstop. A few days ago, she dragged her suitcases out into the hallway, and the whole 

building heard their screaming.” 

“Apparently, Riley caught him watching your 

videos. She asked if he still had feelings for you. 

He said no, he just thinks your stuff is really good. 

That set her off. She was like, ‘If you like her work 

so much, why don’t you go be with her?” 

“Then they just started going at each other. Riley said he’s not half as caring as he was in the videos -that he never does anything, just sits around on 

his phone all day.” 

“Tyler fired back that she doesn’t have half your talent, and all she knows how to do is spend 

money and start drama.” 

“They’re a total mess. What did they even see in 

each other?” 

I laughed a little. “It was just the thrill of something 

new. Once the novelty faded, there was nothing 

left between them.” 

I hung up and sat in my hotel room for a long time. 

A year ago, Tyler and I were in court fighting over 

an account. Six months ago, I was getting torn 

apart by thousands of people online. And now? He finally says he’s sorry. And I felt nothing. 

It’s all behind me now. 

A month later, Tyler released a video announcing 

an indefinite hiatus from creating content. He 

spoke somberly to the camera: [I need time to sort 

things out.] 

The top comment cut straight to the point: [Sort 

out what exactly? You’ve spent half a year 

soul–searching since parting ways with Sharon, and what have you accomplished?] 

That was his last video as a couple influencer. 

After that, he changed his channel name to just 

his own name. His followers dropped from sixty 

million to eighteen million, and they kept dropping. 

Riley vanished entirely. She erased every single 

one of her social media accounts, as if she had 

never existed at all. 

I heard their breakup was ugly. On their last day, 

she cleaned him out–took everything she could 

carry. She didn’t even leave a pot in the kitchen. 

That same day, I was standing in front of the 

Lincoln Memorial, looking up at the marble statue 

of a president who changed the course of history. 

I smiled at the camera.. 

“This statue has watched people come and go for 

over a hundred years. It doesn’t talk. But it’s seen 

everything.”
