My Cheating Girlfriend Chapter 09

My Cheating Girlfriend Chapter 09

“You’re not regrefful. You justlost the bet. You were too arrogant.

“You thought everything was under your control. When you fell flat and couldn’t get back up, you turned around and tried to crawl back to me because you thought was someone you could still control.

“But what’s wrong is wrong. Why would you think that after everything you did, you’d still deserve another chance?”

Jenna lowered her head. She couldn’t look at me. She just kept shaking her head.

“Do you have any idea how I feel when I see you? I feel like all the love I gave you was worthless. Even so, you just kept wanting more.”

After that, I walked past her.

With those words, all the resentment I’d been holding in finally poured out.

I didn’t know what Jenna thought afterward.

For a long time after that, she showed up at my company every day with a bouquet of flowers and waited downstairs.

When I was buried in design work and forgot to eat, she’d cook meals herself and leave them with the security desk.

Anything I had ever casually said I liked, she found excuses to send it to me.

I either returned everything or threw it away.

One of the younger girls in the office, who didn’t know the whole story, was moved by it. “She even asked us to keep an eye on what you like. She’s gone this far. Chris, how can you still not accept her?”

I looked at the girl. She was fresh out of college.

After a moment’s hesitation, I said, “People only feel remorse once they lose someone. She knows what I like now, but she didn’t care back then. Doing it now means it’s already too late. I don’t want her love anymore, and I don’t want a woman I have to settle for. You shouldn’t settle for a man like that either.”

Jenna kept waiting downstairs, as if sheer persistence would eventually move me.

In the end, I went down and asked her to follow me to a nearby cafe.

“Go back. Stop wasting your effort. It won’t change anything.”

She didn’t speak. She simply pushed the lunchbox in front of me and stared stubbornly.

I ignored it and suddenly brought up that couple from the lawn wedding.

“Do you remember that lawn wedding we once saw?”

At that wedding, the groom had been disfigured saving the bride. She stayed with him and insisted on marrying him.

Jenna froze for a moment. She nodded eagerly.

“I remember! Their love was beautiful. They were so happy. I always imagined we’d be like that, too. This is the first time you’ve spoken to me in so long. Does that mean…”

I cut her off.

“They divorced a few years later. She cheated because she couldn’t stand looking at his face anymore. See? The love you cling to ends the same way.”

When I first heard that follow-up, anger surged through me. I couldn’t understand why sincere people were always the ones

who got hurt.

But after thinking it over, realized something>

It wasn’t sincerity that was wrong. It was the person on the other side.

I looked straight at Jenna, enunciating each word carefully.

“So if you’ve chosen to rot, do it on your own. Don’t drag me down with you. Oh, I’ve also reported you to the police for seriously disrupting my life. I hope we never see each other again.”

I didn’t look back at Jenna, who was covering her face and shaking. I pushed the door open and left.

Later, Jenna was sent back to her city of residence. Henry, whose crimes were far more severe, was sentenced to prison.

As for Jenna, no one knew what broke inside her. She had a breakdown in public and was eventually sent to a psychiatric ward.

When I heard all this days later, I paused for only a moment before letting it go.

My career was thriving now, and they would no longer be a part of my life.
